Latvian Ploughing Competition 2024: Tradition, Mastery, and Community Spirit! - On November 1, 2024, the Latvian Ploughing Competition brought together farmers, students, and agricultural enthusiasts to celebrate Latvia’s rich agricultural traditions and advancements in modern farming technology. Organized by LBTU Malnava College in collaboration with the Latvian Ploughing Organization, this year’s event was a true showcase of skill, innovation, and community.

🚜 Preparing the Next Generation In the lead-up to the competition, Malnava College students participated in hands-on training sessions led by A. Laurinovičs, Chairman of the Latvian Ploughing Organization and World Ploughing Organization board member. These sessions provided valuable insights into tractor preparation, plough setup, and the craft of ploughing itself, fostering the next generation of skilled farmers.

🏆 Competition Highlights Participants competed in three categories: Conventional Plough Class, School and Sports Class, and Folk Class, with talented individuals showcasing their expertise.

🎉 Winners by Class: Conventional Plough Class 🥇 1st place: Kaspars Jarvala (Estonia) 🥈 2nd place: Raimond Lepiste (Estonia) 🥉 3rd place: Māris Jānis Zuments (Kandava Technical School)

Special congratulations to Kaspars Jarvala from Estonia for his stellar performance in the Conventional Plough Class, following up on his success at last year’s World Ploughing Championships.

🐴 Tradition Meets Innovation Visitors enjoyed not only modern multi-furrow ploughs and tractors but also demonstrations of traditional ploughing with horses and ploughs—bridging past and present in the farming community.

College students showcase their skills to Norfolk construction firms - Representatives from local construction firms have seen the next generation of tradespeople in action in the workshops at City College Norwich, at an event organised by City College in conjunction with Lovell.
The event on Wednesday 23rd October provided an opportunity for the college’s Level 1 and Level 2 students in carpentry, bricklaying, electrical installation, and plumbing to demonstrate their skills to potential future employers.
With many of the students aiming to move on to apprenticeships as the next step in their training, they were keen to impress the employers and find out more about the career opportunities available.

🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹Training also takes place on the simulator

The Agricultural Vocational College in Hollabrunn is proud of its state-of-the-art equipment: a shooting simulator, a great device for practising and perfecting hunting shooting practice with long and short-barreled weapons. Thanks to the support of the Alumni Association, it was possible to purchase the VR goggles and the practice weapon. Both devices communicate and the targets can be seen in the VR goggles. Of course, there is no danger to the students during training, as no ammunition is fired. The modern simulator is used for memory and muscle training, and movement sequences and the handling of a weapon can also be practiced. It will be used in the hunting group so that the students can prepare for practical shooting with live ammunition in real conditions.🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹
