A stones throw from the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site Galle Fort, you find this peaceful hideaway overlooking Kogalla Lake, Kahanda Kanda. The rooms are all decorated in a different style with lots of art, antique, books, English china and stylish fabrics. Kandy for the eyes.. What a wonderful and heartwarming experience this was. Visiting the Muthumariamman Temple in Matale was like taking a warm bath. I was in awe of the extremely friendly and welcoming people. It’s a beautiful temple and a definite must-see! 🇱🇰

Over bridges and under tunnels with breathtaking views of mist-covered mountains, magnificent waterfalls, and lush green slopes covered with tea plantations. The thrilling train ride from Ella to Kandy is unquestionably a must-do when visiting Sri Lanka. This is one of the most beautiful train trips in the world. 🇱🇰

What I always thrive to is that my clients have an in-depth experience. In whatever country they are and whatever they do. Yes, of course one needs to visit the ‘must-do’s’ but in between the highlights I always make sure they have a real encounter, on whatever level.. Now yesterday, visiting Anuradaphura, I had the absolute honor of witnessing a beautiful and almost out-of-this-world, touching event. The view of the brilliant white dome against the vivid-blue sky with the flowing orange robes of the shaved monks unravelling an incredibly long roll of red silk around the dome catching the wind will stay with me for-ever. Cherry on the cake was the fact that Buddhist monks, Hindoes, Christian’s and Muslims all mingled in full harmony. Un-seen but so incredibly beautiful!

Tucked away deep in the jungle I found this place untouched by time. Serene, authentic and stunningly beautiful. An ecolodge that’s perfectly blended into its surrounded nature. Go on a boat safari and be accompanied by swimming elephants, gaze at thousands of birds inhabiting the islands peppered in the lake, learn about the history when going bush with an elder of the Vedda tribe and prepare a meal with a local using products grown in the jungle. So happy to be on the road again! First stop: South Africa 🇿🇦. So yesterday I spent a full day doing site inspections in beautiful Franschhoek in the wine region, at a stones throw from Capetown. My philosophy? An accommodation should always consist of three components: location, character and people, people, people. It’s the hosts that can either make or break a place. Hence why it is so important for me to visit and experience everything first hand..
