Visitamos al en Armenia,Quindio y estuvimos impresionados por la realización de este proyecto. Están apoyando a 800 familias cafecultores y han establecido una trilladora de alta nivel profesional. Qué delicia aprender que está manejado por mujeres y así fortalecer la presencia de mujeres en toda nuestra cadena de compra - de los cafés producidos por .sara pasando por la trilla por hasta la exportación y importación por nosotros! Hicimos una última cata de los lotes comprados de .sara y fue misión cumplida!

Velvet Coffee goes to London!

Though a short trip, we made the most out of our weekend trip to London by catching up with the family and checking out the London coffee scene.

We had the pleasure of getting an excellent repair service of our Ikawa Pro x 100 and touring the headquarters and visiting some London-based roasters such as . We also had some much needed discussion with our partner, Claire of .

The rain followed us in London but that didn't stop us from enjoying the weekend. Till next time!

Brewing on the cutting edge!

One of the more exciting aspects of running a coffee business is discovering innovations like this. Sample roasting is an art and a science that we have fully embraced at Velvet Coffee. And today, we're comparing results between the Ikawa Pro and the Nucleus link 🌟 ☕️🔬

We roasted Zarza Pacamara for filter, uncovering intriguing insights with identical Maillard reactions and development times. Yet, the variance in end temperatures unveils a fascinating 13% and 14% weight loss, respectively. 🌈

We'll be doing a tasting of each sample roast next, delving into grind sizes and using the Sibarist filter paper, exploring every nuance these incredible coffees have to offer. 🎉

Stay tuned for the next chapter as we aim for a perfect 11% and 12% weight loss in our upcoming sample roast! 🚀☕️

🌟 What a Saturday treat!

We welcomed the incredible into our space at and joined the ranks as stop number 5 on his legendary coffee tour.

We enjoyed watching him weave his magic, introducing the world of specialty coffee ☕️ to a curious crowd. It's inspiring to know that there are people like him who is working hard to make specialty coffee accessible and visible to those who would otherwise not have known about it.

Kudos to him for spreading the love for coffee far and wide! 👏

Had a lovely cupping session with old friends from . We cupped a tasty selection of samples we brought from our trip to the amazing fincas of Sebastian Ramirez, Wilton Benitez, and Nestor Lasso.

So nice that after all these years of cupping together, we notice that our conversations always get more technical and industry related. Thanks for today’s super interesting cupping and for being such good coffee buddies 🥰☕️

From Brussels, Belgium to Bruselas, Huila. 🌍☕ It never fails to amaze how coffee can bring people together from all over the world.

Did you know? Bruselas, Huila wasn't always known by its current name. It earned its moniker from the lush swamps much like those around Brussels. A niece of the mayor, inspired during her studies in the Belgian capital, saw the resemblance in her homeland's landscape upon her return. Moved by the beauty of both places, she suggested the name change to ‘Bruselas,’ etching a bond between two distant lands. A bond that we Velvet Coffee share 🇨🇴❤️🇧🇪

We had the privilege of visiting Finca El Diviso by the Lasso Family last Wednesday.

And they show no sign of stopping. Currently, the construction of their new five-storey building La Planta is underway. Here’s to the well-deserved success of this amazing finca!
