New Album The Sheila Divine: I’ve been making albums for a long time. Between TSD, Dear Leader, No Hope No Harm, and Aaron & the Lord i’ve lost track of how many. My new record “I am the Darkness. We are the Light.” is the first one that I recorded myself without any input. That’s not to say that the music captured wasn’t brought to life by the amazing creative force of Steven Lord and Will Claflin who took it the the next level. Add some vocal alchemy from the immensely talented Marissa Nadler. They helped me achieve something I could have never imagined. It’s like the purest essence of my influences and the sounds that I hear in my head. I also can’t say I got here without the one figure who has shaped everything I know about writing & recording songs in Brian Charles. He has always been a profound teacher, mentor, collaborator, and soundboard for my art.
I wrote this album when my life was at a crossroads. I was completely lost and looking to the universe for an answer. The songs and recordings came together in just two weeks, but i’ve been sitting on them. Not sure how I wanted to present them because this record means a lot to me. I hope you give it a listen, if you like it share it with your network because i’d like to do more of this. I’m a lifer and will always be a songwriter. Thanks for following my journey all these years! - Aaron
