Super exciting new addition to our Cat skiing weeks… exhibition tents! These have been set up deep in the Shar mountains for staying in over night, meaning you can wake up in true mountain wilderness and explore more of the mountains than ever before ⛷
Our fab guests enjoying the snow in Bansko, these guys were learning to snowboard and they picked it up super fast! Bansko is a great place to learn skiing or snowboarding, with plenty of gentle slopes and some steeper ones it’s perfect for progressing! 💙

The mountain huts are an important part of mountain life around Zakopane, you can ski, ski tour or hike to them, lots of them serve food and you can stay the night in some of them!
If you join us for one of our ski tour camps we stay in a mountain hut for one night, imagine waking up deep in the snowy mountains and enjoying your morning coffee with a view of the stunning Tatra Mountain range 💙
These images look like something dreamed up by AI but they are 100% real! The Kukeri (traditional costumed men that dance around to ward off evil spirits) got the gondola then the chair lift to the top of the mountain in Bansko and performed their traditional dance!
That’s why we love Bulgaria so much, the rich combination of tradition and natural beauty 🤍

One of the reasons our Chalet is so special is that it’s located on one edge of the town, it’s still close to the gondola and the town centre, but you get amazing mountain views and you have this huge area of land just outside that leads to the mountains, perfect for a stroll or a more strenuous hike if you’re feeling adventurous!

One of our favourite things about Zakopane is the mountain huts.
🛖 They are called huts but in reality they are lodges that range from basic to almost luxury.
🛖 You can ski or walk to them and have lunch or a snack there, the prices are mega reasonable like £5 for a meal and drink 😨)and the views are spectacular.
🛖 One of our favourite ones is a 30 minute walk from the chalet, easy enough for kids to do and you can have lunch or dinner there and sledge back to the chalet.
🛖 If you join us for our ski touring trips you spend one of the nights sleeping in our favourite hut and waking up deep in the mountains.
5 reasons why Christmas in Bansko is magical
❄️ An obvious first point, you get to wake up in the snowy mountains on Christmas morning and go skiing!!!
🤑 It’s super reasonable, you can get a delicious home cooked meal on the mountain for a fraction of the price of The Alps, and a glass of mulled wine for a couple of quid! Meaning you can relax and treat yourself and your group.
💦 The mineral spa! Not strictly Christmas related but just the most deliciously relaxing thing to do after skiing, you can also get a massage plus if you fancy you can drink a G&T or glass of bubbly whilst in the hot mineral water.
🍖 Mouth watering food! Your Chalet staff will cook you a traditional Christmas Dinner to have in your cosy Chalet on Christmas Day, and on the nights when you don’t eat in the chalet you can explore some of the many excellent restaurants in Bansko.
🐐 Amazing and unique Bulgarian traditions, a truly once in a lifetime experience, I’m not going to explain here because words don’t really do it justice but Google “Bulgarian Kukeri” and you’ll see what I mean!

Counting down the days!
As far as Easter Traditions go this one is pretty good… Every Easter Monday crowds flock to a mountain in Zakopane for O Wielkanovne Jajo, basically dressing it up traditional ski clothes, drinking shots of cherry vodka, and racing down the mountain on wooden skis! As you can probably see we had an EGGcelent time 🥚 Join us next year and maybe even compete 😉 It will take place on April 1st (which is often a good time for snow too!)
The Tatra Mountains, Poland. Because the ski area above Zakopane is a National Park, Chamois and other mountain animals are a common sight, even close to the pistes. Later in the Spring even more animals come out of hibernation, there’s even a chance you could spot a bear!

Wondering what Polish people get up to in the mountains at Easter?! They go skiing of course! But skiing with a difference… they dress up in skiwear from 100 years ago, strap on a pair of wooden skis, and race each other down the mountain! It’s called Zawody O Wielkanocne Jajo and traditionally takes place on Easter Monday. It is one of the most popular (and craziest) events in the Zakopane calendar!
Freeride (ˈfriːˌraɪd ) a style of snowboarding or skiing performed on natural, un-groomed terrain, without a set course, goals or rules.
This is Morskie Oko, one of the most beautiful lakes in Poland, and the start of the picturesque walk to the lake is only 20 minutes from our Chalets! A great activity to do if you’d like a day off skiing 💚
