Today’s post is from Wherwell village in Hampshire, where I was lucky enough to catch the sunset.
A beautiful picturesque village with many pretty cottages and at this time of year so many roses 🌹 .

Wherwell is a village on the River Test in Hampshire, England. The name may derive from its bubbling springs resulting in the Middle Ages place name “Hwerwyl” noted in AD 955, possibly meaning “kettle springs” or “cauldron springs.

Today’s post is of Holly Village in Highgate. Holly Village is one of Highgate's hidden gems - striking architecture commissioned by one of the city’s richest women.

Holly Village, Highgate, North London. Listed Building. H. A. Darbishire. 1865. Holly Village, designed by the architect Henry Astley Darbishire for Baroness Angela Burdett-Coutts, consists of a group of eight buildings built around a green, comprising four detached houses and four pairs of adjoining cottages. The houses were apparently intended (though there is some dissent here) as an economic rather than a charitable venture — as Camden Council puts it, for "private rent to those on considerable incomes." Also according to Camden Council, it was built by William Cubitt, rather than the more commonly cited Thomas Cubitt.

Migliavacca Mansion (1890)

Designed by local architect William H. Corlett in the Queen Anne style, the Migliavacca Mansion was constructed of select redwood and Italian slate shingles between 1890-93. The Mansion originally stood on Division Street, but in the 1970's was moved to 4th St. The home has a three-story turret, and a ballroom on the third floor.

Take a trip to the past and enjoy a delightful English tearoom in the heart of Bradford-on-Avon. The unique building dates back to the 17th century (previously two separate stores - an antique shop and local blacksmith). The tea rooms have regularly been selected as one of the best in the country.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day. Today’s post is from the picturesque village of Castle Combe in Wiltshire the Cotswold.

Castle Combe is a quintessentially English village often named as the ‘prettiest village in England.' The village sits in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north west Wiltshire.

Castle Combe has featured regularly as a film location, most recently in The Wolf Man, Stardust and Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse. It was also used in the original Dr Doolittle film.
The village has a rich history and the houses are made up of the honey coloured Cotswold stone, typical for a village of this area.

The delightful cotswold village of Castle Combe.
The village has 107 listed buildings, all grade I or II. No new buildings have been constructed in the village since around 1600. 😱😍🌿❤️
