The Bourgas airport will officially kick off the season with a Ryanair flight from Krakow Poland on 30th March.
Wizz Air is resuming flights to 6 European destinations from June
For the first time in history - this year Austrian Airlines is launching a new regular route from Vienna Austria, with 3 weekly flights from mid-June.
Discover Airlines (Lufthansa Group) will connect Frankfurt (Germany) and Burgas with flights from the beginning of May, and from July it will add a new route to Munich (Germany).
Eurowings is resuming flights from 4 German cities in June – Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Cologne and Hamburg, and from July it will also relaunch the Salzburg (Austria) – Burgas route.
British airline Jet2.com is expanding its presence in Burgas and will operate flights from 10 of its 13 UK bases this year. An exciting highlight for all travelers is the airline’s return to the Edinburgh route, which it will operate for the first time since 2022.
EasyJet has launched its summer schedule from June, first resuming flights from Manchester (UK), and later adding London Gatwick (UK) and Berlin (Germany)
For the first time in history, Norwegian will operate regular flights from the Latvian capital Riga to Burgas, in addition to its traditional routes from: Helsinki (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), Oslo, Trondheim and Bergen (Norway).
On May 16, the first charter flights from Germany will also start, operated by Electra Airways in cooperation with SunExpress.

In 1974, Bulgarian archaeologists made a groundbreaking discovery near Varna, Bulgaria: a vast Copper Age necropolis that dates back to the 5th millennium BC. This ancient burial site revealed a wealth of extraordinary artifacts, including the world's oldest known gold objects. These treasures provided a fascinating glimpse into the advanced skills of the Varna culture, a civilization that was far ahead of its time in terms of metallurgy and craftsmanship.

The discovery of gold jewelry, tools, and ceremonial items reshaped our understanding of early European civilizations. These artifacts, some of which were used in funerary rituals, not only predate the rise of Sumerian and Egyptian cultures but also challenge previous assumptions about the technological achievements of ancient peoples in Europe.

The Varna necropolis suggests that the people of this culture had a remarkable grasp of goldsmithing, metallurgy, and complex societal structures, which was previously thought to have been developed much later in other parts of the world. This discovery has sparked new research and questions about the development of metallurgy and civilization in prehistoric Europe, offering fresh insights into the ingenuity of ancient societies.

The number of passengers served at the airports in Varna and Burgas decreased in 2024.

A total of about 3.4 million passengers passed through the both airports. This is a decrease of 8.7% compared to 2023. Another factor is the smaller number of passengers from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Israel.
