Zhenski Pazar Market (Bulgarian: “Женски пазар”) is the oldest market in Sofia. Established more than 140 years ago, it has become one of the most important trading centres in the metropolitan city.

Zhenski Pazar Market has always been known as the place where one can find everything needed… starting from fresh fruit and vegetables by Bulgarian farmers, going through traditional souvenirs, clothing, fresh meat and dairy products, and ending up with exotic foreign spices and condiments.

The market is an attractive tourist destination in Sofia, and the colourful merchants and their merchandise, combined with the authentic urban architecture attract increasing numbers of tourists.
The market is located in the so-called Area of Tolerance in Sofia. The name itself is coined after the close proximity of the temples of all the official religious communities in Bulgaria. Here you can find the church “Saints Cyril and Methodius“, the “Banya bashi” Mosque, and the Central Synagogue of Sofia.
Almost 60 000 visit Zhenski Pazar Market every day.

History in the making ❤️

- Кога за пръв път ти се прииска да бъдеш драг кралица?
- Като малък попаднах на няколко мъжки профили, които имаха снимки с женски дрехи. Казах си, че е много готино. Първоначално помислих, че е свързано с тяхната работа, но след това разбрах, че това е една цяла култура. Почнах да гледам много видеоклипове онлайн и да експериментирам съвсем небрежно с женски дрехи и грим у дома. Винаги съм си представял как съм на сцена, как ме гледат хората, как всички се кефят и забавляват и ги правя щастливи.
- Родителите?
- Те не знаят за тази част от живота ми, а само за сексуалната ми ориентация. Един ден седнах и им го казах.
- Майка ти плака ли, че няма да има внуци?
- Плака, но не заради внуците (смее се). Просто, защото е някак... И аз да имах деца, и на мен щеше да ми е малко странно.
- Искаш ли да имаш деца?
- Да, защо не? Сестра ми я отгледах от малка, имаме седем години разлика, винаги ми е било много приятно.
- Не мразиш децата?
- Не (смее се). Е, понякога са дразнещи, но затова си ги обичаме.
- Да уточним, че ти си хомосексуален, защото има не само хомо, но и хетеросексуални драг кралици.
- Да. Това са две различни неща, които не смесвам. В живота съм мъж, не искам да ходя с рокли по улиците - артистичното ми аз е само за сцената.
- Прииятелите как го възприема това? Крадеш ли гримовете от приятелки?
- По-скоро те крадат от моите (смее се). Всички са окей, много ме подкрепят, даже всички ще дойдат да ме гледат. Винаги съм бил много открит в това отношение и съм получавал разбиране.
- Под тази публикация ще се излее много злоба и думи като "смърт", "умри", "изрод" и какво ли още не. Какво ще кажеш на всички, които мразят такива като теб?
- Да дойдат да видят шоуто и как хората се забавляват и веселят.
- Ако не могат да дойдат? Какво трябва да знаят?
- Косата, роклите, гримът - това е работното ни облекло, нашата работа, ако мога така да се изразя. Както, примерно, пожарникарите се обличат, само дето нашите дрехи са красиви (смее се).
- Това все пак е едно по-затворено събитие за определена общност. Не е ли по-добре да дойдат всякакви хора?
- Съвсем скоро смених работата и вече съм във фирма с много повече хора. Колегите знаят, че съм хомосексуален и гледам да говорим много относно това, за да видят, че няма нищо странно и страшно. Всички ще дойдат да ме гледат, няма проблем с това, шегуваме се и т.н. Не знам, може би това е начинът.
- Ще носят ли плаката за подкрепа?
- Не са ми казвали (смее се).
- Това ще е твоят дебют като драг кралица. Какво би посъветвал тези, които искат, но не се осмеляват?
- Да си сложат косата, да се гримират и да излязат. Няма нищо страшно и ненормално. Който ги приема по принцип, ще ги приеме и така. Който ще ги плюе, ще продължи да го прави каквото и да направят. Лично аз си казвам "Излизай, пък каквото ще да стане".
- А страхувал ли си се от физическо насилие?
- Да, имало е периоди със заплахи и обиди, особено в училище. Беше ме страх да излизам от вкъщи.
- Страхът от насилие ли е най-сериозният проблем?
- Да, в училище. Там си затворен в една среда и няма как да избягаш. Сега е друго, защото ако се появи такъв проблем, мога да напусна работа.
- Как гледаш на постоянните коментари, че хомосексуалните не е редно да натрапват сексуалността си, а хетеросексуалните показват това постоянно? Тоест, едните могат, а другите не могат?
- Ами чудя се, защо трябва да е странно, това е дискриминация. Така ги учат родителите. Ако възпитаваш детето си, че е ок хората да се обичат, независимо от пола им, то няма да има проблем. Насаждано е с години.
- Добре, да идват да гледат и да се забавлявате, така ли да завършим?
- Елате и се забавлявайте (смее се).

A train with a graffiti-decorated locomotive departed today, August 13, from Sofia to Bourgas. The idea of the Bulgarian state railway company, BDZ, is one of a kind and aims to show that painting in an urban environment can have a beautiful end result.

This is the first locomotive in Bulgaria that looks like this. The author of the project, is the Bulgarian artist Stanislav Trifonov - Nasimo. He is known as one of the pioneers of Eastern European graffiti and street art culture.

The colourful locomotive won many fans who were quick to take pictures of themselves with it. BDZ's strategy is to attract more passengers and make them feel comfortable on the train. The company said that the locomotive would serve various trains on Bulgaria’s railway network.
