Today our group is exploring the ancient city of Viminacium located at the confluence of the river Mlava into the Danube. It was an important city of the Roman Empire, capital of the province of Moesia. Founded in the 1st century on the banks of the Mlava, a tributary of the Danube, 70 km from Belgrade, during the second part of the principality of Augustus, or in the first part of that of Tiberius, it became one of the most important Roman cities with important military camps of the period between the 1st and 6th centuries.
