Capped Heron, one of the most beautiful birds in the Panta**l.
Photographing this bird is not so easy due to its shy nature, but every encounter feels even more special, as if we’ve accepted a challenge and succeeded in capturing it. Another new photograph showcasing the giant river otter. 🦦🦦
This was taken on the recent trip I took to the Panta**l where I joined on the **lphototours

These otters can grow up to 1.8 meters long! The species was listed as endangered in 1999, and wild population estimates today are no larger than 5,000. They face threats due to habitat loss and degradation, mainly due to human activities and developments driving forward deforestation.

Please consider donating to organisations such as The Wildlife Foundation who fundraise to help protect the Giant Otter.

Giant otters are excellent indicators of jaguar presence in the wild. Their keen sense of smell allows them to detect jaguars nearby. If you observe giant otters behaving cautiously or reacting to a scent, it’s a strong sign that a jaguar is in the area or was there recently. . .
