Today is International Jaguar Day! 🐆
This largest feline in the Americas is a vital symbol of biodiversity. Once found from the United States to Argentina, it is now extinct in North America but remains in Brazil - especially in the Pantanal. Unfortunately, this near-threatened species faces risks from habitat loss and environmental pressures. However, the Pantanal continues to be a stronghold, home to an estimated 1,668 jaguars, making it the best place in the world to see them.
Being at the top of the food chain, jaguars are essential for maintaining ecological balance and signaling the health of their environment. Their survival helps prevent overpopulation of other species, which can impact agriculture and ecosystems. Conservation initiatives like @oncafari, that works to preserve biodiversity in Brazilian biomes, are key to protecting jaguars while fostering sustainable tourism.
The ideal time to explore Pantanal and see this incredible animal is in the dry season - from April to September - when the volume of water finally drains away, making it easier to move around the land - increasing the chance of spotting it.

The countdown to the summer has started! ☀️ We're less than a month away from the official start of the Brazilian summer (not that we're not already enjoying sunny days here!).
Speaking of summertime, we have two items that go very well with this hot season and are part of Rio de Janeiro's beach routine: the traditional Biscoito Globo and Mate Leão. Have you ever heard of them?
The famous duo is enjoyed at any time as a great snack, but it was on the sands that they became a true favorite.
Biscoito Globo dates back to the 1950s when three brothers learned to make polvilho cookies from their cousin in a bakery in São Paulo. They realized that Rio was the perfect market for the product, so they moved to the Marvelous City and named it Biscoito Globo.
Our beloved Mate Leão originated in southern Brazil. The beverage was born in Curitiba in 1901, but it was in Rio de Janeiro that it truly found its home. In the city’s heat, the habit of drinking iced Mate grew, and it became widely sold at the Maracanã stadium and on the beaches. In 2012, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro even declared that the street vendors selling this delicious tea should be recognized as Cultural and Intangible Heritage of the city

One more day of Carnival in Rio…
Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival is famous all over the world for its vibrant colors, dances, and elaborate costumes that enchant everyone experiences it!
One of the highlights of this festivity is the samba schools parade - where beauty, culture, and emotion get combined. Until this year, the 12 schools in the Special Group performed over two days. But from 2025, one more day will be added to the official calendar – with four schools per day - promising an even bigger spectacle for all to enjoy, from Sunday to Tuesday.
