EXTENSÃO DO LITORAL | Dos 26 estados brasileiros, nove não têm acesso ao mar, além do DF. A maioria dos 17 estados costeiros têm suas capitais próximas do litoral, com exceção de Porto Alegre (RS), Curitiba (PR), São Paulo (SP), Teresina (PI), Belém (PA) e Macapá (AP). No entanto, Porto Alegre, Belém e Macapá estão todas perto de grandes rios navegáveis; enquanto Curitiba e São Paulo se situam em áreas de planalto a menos de 100 quilômetros de distância do Oceano Atlântico, em linha reta e Teresina é a mais distante da costa, 330 km.

➡️ Litoral — possui a menor extensão. É formado por sedimentos recentes, havendo o predomínio de restingas, lagunas e mangues; Abrange a costa do Amapá e a do Pará e este é marcado pela foz do rio Amazonas, com canais, pequenos lagos, manguezais e ilhas, entre elas a de Marajó. No norte do Amapá há ainda longas restingas.

➡️ Litoral — é o mais extenso. Nele se localizam praias e dunas, além de alguns importantes portos comerciais. Sua diversidade de acidentes geográficos se concentra entre o leste do RN e a divisa SE-BA (dunas potiguares, falésias paraibanas, arrecifes pernambucanos, lagoas alagoanas e os coqueirais sergipanos). já que parte norte predomina o litoral de dunas e o litoral amazônico.

➡️ Litoral Sudeste — caracterizado pelas costas baixas (principalmente no norte capixaba) e falésias, apresenta também restingas, lagunas e mangues na sua parte sul. É dominado claramente pela costa de morros . É o mais movimentado do país, com importantes portos comerciais, como o de Santos e o do Rio de Janeiro; Tem diversos trechos escarpados e outros amplos e retilíneos.

➡️ Litoral Sul — é formado por costas baixas e arenosas principalmente entre o sul de SC e o Chuí, além de extensas lagoas no Rio Grande do Sul. Os principais portos são Itajaí, Paranaguá e Rio Grande. Entre o leste de SC e o PR predomina a costa de morros com pouca variedade, já que esse tipo de costa se estende do ES a SC.
