¿De qué están orgullosos los españoles?
No soy español.

¿Inglaterra? No, no jodan.

What are the Spanish proud of?
I'm not Spanish. I contest you as a Mexican.

Spain is the essential nation.

The world is shaped like a world because Spain made it. Gringos are somewhat jealous and the history of Hispanicism pi**es them off, because there are medals that cannot be hung.

Who discovered that the world was the world? Well that. But unlike the English, who have a frightening voracity, the Spanish are a tolerant people and proposed the most important project in history: Creating a New Spain. A Renaissance kingdom with streets that were modern at that time, with aqueducts, hospitals and universities.

There is a before and an after, and the Earth in sight! Rodrigo de Triana shouted it.

Now we are angry that 3 buses don't fit on those Renaissance streets, but that opened the door to modernity, to today's, to which you and I live.

Look, those things hardly turn out well. Spain made it work for 300 years. It's no small thing. The UN has not even been around for a century and it is already leaking everywhere. The WHO cannot be more sorry. Our democracies have been around for less than 200 years and we no longer know how to patch them.

But there is a country, small, there bordering Africa, where there lives a mixture of gods with gypsies with Moors and Jews, all mixed, that went around the world to spread its culture, its language, to establish its institutions and to share its sense of humor and a certain way of seeing the world.

On this side of the pond, that way of seeing the world is mine, and if you speak Spanish, it is also yours at least in part.

Now imagine that the world lives under the monopoly of English culture, with its apartheid, its indigenous reservations and its cotton fields.

How the hell is Spain not going to have something to be proud of? Italy could have done it, but she didn't. Holland and Belgium, so tolerant of some things, so open and so strong, were a horror. It's good that he couldn't go any further, because there was no more brutal brutality than that of Belgium. England? No, don't f**k around.

And here we are. Inventing black legends to pat ourselves on the back and tell us that we are not so stupid and that it is someone else's fault. Well, we share with Spain the gene of political stupidity, but the least of the evils. Nor were the pre-Hispanic tribes happy. There, not even the Belgians beat the Aztecs when it comes to brutality.

Spain does not have the efficiency of northern Europe but neither does it have its rapacity nor its pedantry. More adventurous than the Germans, less as****es than the English; more diligent than the Italians, less pretentious than the French. And more mixed and tolerant than everyone, from the Caucasus to Gibraltar. More less; more less
