During their 5-day vacation in Rio de Janeiro from December 8 to 13, 2024, the family used the services of Rio Accessible Tour, planning the itinerary with the help of Luciana. The family of four, including a son with cerebral palsy who uses an electric wheelchair, had the support of a lightweight folding wheelchair to access more difficult places. The guide André and driver Luis were excellent, ensuring that the family visited all the points of interest and providing an informative tour about the history of Rio and Brazil.

Luciana Bonguardo was born in Rio de Janeiro, where she became interested in accessibility from an early age, motivated by a genuine desire to help others. Her passion intensified when she realized the lack of operators specialized in accessible tourism in Rio de Janeiro, a reality that she decided to change.

In 2004 she founded Rio Accessible Tour, the first operator dedicated to accessible tourism in Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. Graduated in Tourism from FACHA in 1999, her career spans over 11 years of experience in the sector. In addition, she has certifications in English and tourism from renowned North American institutions, reflecting her commitment to excellence.

For Luciana, tourism goes beyond exploring new places; it is about connecting people, respecting their individualities and ensuring that everyone can experience the best the world has to offer. 💙

A Primeira Parada PCD na praia do Arpoador, no Rio de Janeiro, embora relevante, falhou em pontos cruciais que prejudicaram a experiência dos participantes. O calor nas barracas destacou a carência de uma infraestrutura adequada, como áreas cobertas e ventiladas. A escassez de água também foi um erro logístico grave. Além disso, apesar de buscar a inclusão, o evento não ofereceu uma estrutura funcional e específica para as pessoas com deficiência, comprometendo a acessibilidade e o conforto.

Se toda a comunidade PCD tivesse se feito presente, com o apoio de mais institutos e fundações, essa Parada poderia ter sido ainda mais expressiva, deixando até mesmo a Parada Gay lado a lado. A falta de união entre as organizações e entidades é um fator determinante para que o evento não alcançasse seu verdadeiro potencial, esperávamos muito mais!
