Bossa Nova Was Born In the Alley of Bottles In Rio De Janeiro.
Bossa Nova was born on the tropical beaches of Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s. The Bossa Nova movement emerged from a small alley on Copacabana, which became popularly called Beco das Garrafas. This alley was home to multiple small nightclubs that featured the artists who played and sang Bossa Nova in the beginning and created a musical style that would become world famous.

Bossa Nova is a samba-based musical genre that combines traditional Brazilian music and rhythms, with American jazz, and Portuguese lyrics. It was born from the youthful beach culture, sensual pleasure, and romance that is in the DNA of Brazillian music.

Para pensar: Ivete Sangalo debateu com Baby Consuelo. Sugeriu “macetar o apocalipse”. Houve uma explosão de um tubo de gás carbônico no trio elétrico. Surgiram pessoas falando que foi punição divina. No dia 21/12/2023 desabou o teto de uma igreja católica em Montezuma (MG) durante a oração dos fiéis. Muitos feridos. Teria sido punição? 5/9/1998: houve um acidente mais trágico em Osasco (Igreja Universal): 25 mortos e mais de quinhentos feridos durante uma vigília de oração. Foi castigo? Adoramos dirigir os fatos para que pareça que Deus pune quem não gostamos. Igrejas podem desabar ou não e isto tem relação com manutenção adequada da estrutura. A física domina trios elétricos e igrejas. Afirmar que a doença ou o colapso de um prédio são castigos divinos é, literalmente, ofender o mandamento bíblico e “tomar o nome de Deus em vão”. Deus não é capanga do ressentimento de ninguém. Aqui vai o desenho genial de Carlos Ruas, mais cheio de tom profético do que muito fiel por aí.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Marco. If you're looking for a little adventure outside of Rio, Petropolis is the place. The hour drive was via a scenic route through the national park and the city of Petropolis was fascinating. And oddly enough, the Palácio Quitandinha (once a casino from the 1940s) was very, very interesting. Marco's lifelong background in the hospitality business was evident during our tour. He speaks perfect English, is very knowledgeable and loves hosting visitors. Five Stars!!!

Marco Bransford is the man behind MBransford. A multitalented Carioca (born and raised in Rio), he lived in Hamburg, Paris, London , and Manaus and since 1986 has been in his home city. Graduated in Tourism, Marco worked as head concierge at a 5 star hotel when he became the second President of the Golden Keys Brazil (International Association of Concierges). He speaks five languages and has worked in the Brazilian Embassy in London, in the travel and hotel industries , and in leading global companies.

Marco has decided to found MBransford based not only on his previous work experiences but also on his interest in cultural life and high standard traveling. As a “Carioca da Gema” (born and raised in Rio) he has covered the streets and quarters of the city and its surroundings. He enjoys discovering unique and interesting places worth remembering. In this way he can plan and put together a most exciting tour of the Wonderful City.
