Aurora Borealis Colada 🌌

Ingredients:

2 oz white rum
1 oz coconut cream
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz blue curaçao
1 oz grenadine
1 oz Midori (melon liqueur)
1 cup crushed ice
Whipped cream for topping
Edible glitter (optional for garnish)
Star-shaped sprinkles or decorations
Instructions:

Prepare the Base:

In a blender, combine the white rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice, and crushed ice. Blend until smooth.
Create the Swirls:

Divide the blended mixture into three separate containers.
In the first container, add blue curaçao and mix well.
In the second container, add grenadine and mix well.
In the third container, add Midori and mix well.
Layer the Colada:

Pour the blue curaçao mixture into the bottom of a large goblet or hurricane glass.
Carefully layer the grenadine mixture on top, followed by the Midori mixture, using the back of a spoon to pour each layer gently to keep them separated.
Swirl the Colors:

Using a stir stick, gently swirl the layers to create a marbled effect, resembling the Northern Lights.
Top and Garnish:

Top with a generous swirl of whipped cream.
Sprinkle with edible glitter and star-shaped sprinkles for a magical finish.
Serve:

Serve immediately with a metal straw for that perfect Instagram-worthy moment.

Meet Yisrael Kristal z'l, a Holocaust survivor who, against all odds, celebrated his bar mitzvah not at 13, but at the remarkable age of 113! Born on September 15, 1903, in Maleniec, Poland, Kristal passed away in Israel on August 11, 2017. Yesterday marked seven years since his passing.

In 2016, Guinness World Records recognized Kristal as the world’s oldest living man. Having lived through two world wars, Kristal missed his bar mitzvah at 13 due to WWI. Despite the horrors of WWII, where he lost his two children and his first wife in Auschwitz, Kristal survived with an unwavering spirit.

After liberation, he weighed just 82 pounds but still managed to make candies for his liberators from his hospital bed. Once recovered, Kristal rebuilt his candy shop in Łódź, married Batsheva in 1947, and together, they made Aliyah in 1950. In Haifa, he established a thriving confectionery business, crafting sweets for decades.

When he finally celebrated his bar mitzvah, surrounded by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kristal relished the sweet tradition of having candy thrown at him—fitting for a man who dedicated his life to spreading sweetness, even in the darkest of times.
