Brazilian Historical Heritage Institute D. Escholastica Rosa located at in Santos City is one of the first schools of vocational education in Brazil.
It was conceived in 1899 and opened in 1908. The historic marking goes until 1933, a time when the space and target audience changed its initial configuration due to the new educational guidelines resulted from the Second Republic
The Dona Escolástica Rosa Institute was first created by João Octávio dos Santos, bastard son of the counselor João Octávio Nébias and the enslaved Escolástica Rosa.
It is said that one of Dona Escolástica's dreams was to open a shelter and professional counseling institute for orphaned children or bastards in need of social care and, therefore, when João Octávio dos Santos died in 1900, he left his wish to fulfill your mother's wishes.
