POLAR - Antarctic - Snow Petrel (Pagodroma nivea) - Least Concern
The Procellariiformes are a monophyletic group of seabirds that include, albatrosses, shearwaters, fulmars, prions, gadfly petrels, storm-petrels, and diving-petrels. The Snow Petrel breeds in Antarctica and the nearby islands. The species is associated with pack ice, icebergs, and ice floes. It is the only member of the Pagodroma genus.

Sea turtle tracks are distinctive and can help identify the species of turtle that made them. Leatherback turtles, the largest sea turtles, leave tracks that are up to seven feet wide with a parallel flipper placement and a significant tail drag down the center. Loggerhead turtles leave staggered, comma-shaped indentations due to their alternating gait, with hind flipper marks often covering short front flipper marks and no visible tail drag. Green sea turtles, on the other hand, have symmetrical tracks with parallel flipper marks and a central tail drag. Sea turtles vary in size depending on the species. The largest sea turtle is the leatherback, which can reach lengths of 1.4 to more than 1.8 meters (4.6 to 5.9 feet) and weigh between 300 and 640 kg (661 to 1,411 lbs). Kemp's ridley is the smallest sea turtle species, ranging from as little as 60 cm (2 ft) long. The smallest sea turtles are about the size of dinner plates, while the largest, the leatherback, can reach sizes similar to a golf cart.

There are seven species of sea turtles in the world, each with unique characteristics and habitats. They are the flatback, green, hawksbill, leatherback, loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, and olive ridley sea turtles. All but the flatback turtle are listed as threatened with extinction globally on the threatened species list.

Learn, love, conserve*: Elegant Lettered Olives (Oliva sayana) feed on marine worms, crustaceans, and small bivalves, among other prey items, but on occasion can be scavengers, feasting on the carcasses of dead fish, crabs, and other mollusks. They are relatively fast-moving snails, as suggested by the little “bow waves” (see photo) formed as a Lettered Olive moves through fine sand in half-inch-deep water at low tide. On Bunche Beach, Fort Myers, Florida.
