Location is taking you to Staniel Cay, the heart of the northern Exumas. Staniel Cay is home to some of our favorite Exumas activities including visiting the swimming pigs, Thunderball grotto, feeding rock iguanas, the most amazing sand bar we have ever seen, and the famous Staniel Cay Yacht Club. Staniel Cay is typically the furthest south anchorage that we visit on our 8 day Exuma, Bahamas charters which start and end in Nassau Bahamas. Join us as we visit one of our favorite islands in the Exumas…. Warderick Wells Cay. There are so many reasons why Warderick Wells is high on our list of one of the most incredible places in the world. Headquarters for the Exumas Land and Sea Park, this place has a little bit of everything. As we arrive at Warderick Wells one of the first things guests comment on is its incredible beauty. The Warderick wells mooring field is shaped like a horseshoe and as we enter it’s a tight squeeze dodging boats on either side as they drift with the tide to get inside to our mooring ball. Immediately upon arrival we are typically greeted with some sort of marine life. We will always see nurse sharks, reef sharks, sea turtles, and beautiful coral. It’s not uncommon to also encounter dolphins, stingrays, and even groups of eagle rays. The shallow water and beautiful coral in this anchorage makes for the perfect snorkeling spot. As the tide rises and falls, sand bars in this anchorage appear and disappear swimming distance from the boat. A quick tender ride takes you to an amazing beach to explore. There is even a full grown whale skeleton to check out. A must do when in warderick wells is a visit to Bobo Hill. Legend has it that if you leave something with your boat name on the hill, that will be your bobo for the trip. If your looking for a longer hike there is a beautiful trail that takes you around the island which includes some caves which legions has it were known to be storage spots for pirate booty. Location is on Green Turtle Cay in the Abacos. We explored the island via golf cart today, which is the primary method of transportation in these smaller Bahamas islands. We asked for the fastest golf cart, which they gave us but it came at a cost of nearly no brakes and it ran way too rich so kept backfiring. Tomorrow will be an exciting one. We’re going to be navigating through a shallow cut. Fortunately the tide is on our side. If we don’t post, make sure to do a welfare check🤣. It’s Dan’s last day aboard Location🥲. All jokes aside, he’s been a huge help to Nik over the past week… who else would heat up the hot pockets? Fun fact for all of our Dan fans… Dan actually got married aboard Location in summer of 2023 where we did a tandem charter with another boat for the whole wedding party. It was a blast! If you can’t tell by now, we love what we do, the guests that we enjoy our experiences with, and where we do it. We’re Sailing!!! Yesterday we left Florida and were off to the Bahamas. We missed some project updates because our last day in Florida was crazy. Don’t worry though, Nik made multiple trips to the hardware store repeating that he wasn’t coming back every time. How about Dan’s charcuterie board tho? He’s officially challenging @lilyofthegalley as he thinks he has what it takes to replace her aboard Location. There has been a wind shift so it makes more sense for us to head a little north through the Abacos to search for claimer following seas. We have a charter in the Exumas where we typically sail over Thanksgiving with @sauceyrosie stepping in to help until Lily is back aboard. Then back up here to the Abacos for 3 charters through Christmas and New Years.
