Magic Hour.
When I worked in film Production, this is what we called the perfect sunset… the perfect time of day in the perfect countries most perfect location at the most perfect time of day. In fact… “magic hour” makes most moments appear…well, absolutely magic. Now I prefer to be in the moment rather than “chasing it” with a camera… or even talking about it. We sourced these petrified roots from one of the inland salt-lakes. Saltwater-cured and sun bleached this chandelier is of massive scale and at the center of the Grand Salon. Indoor fires make no sense in this heat but the golden light, cast by this chandelier during gatherings is just as magical. _____________________________________________________

Nooks and Crannies.

Each individual room at The Exuma Outpost has its own distinct vibe and style. Vintage Furniture and hand worn items that appear as if they have been salvaged from a shipwrecked schooner that ran ground ages ago on one of the reefs right in front of the door. Each of these rooms opens up to spectacular views of the ocean to the outside and the palm shaded rainwater pool at the inside.

The Eagles Nest.
The loft at The Exuma Outpost is the perfect “get away’ within the “get away.” Usually the kids claim this space for themselves. It has a huge table for arts and crafts but it also has done double duty as a writers retreat or home office… for those who have decided to work remotely. A perfect place to meditate or to read a good book.

The Rain Pool. It’s at the center of The Exuma Outpost. Every-time it rains the water comes cascading down the cedar shingled roof down into the atrium, filling up the pool and watering the lush surrounding tropical vegetation. It’s a sight to behold. Wraparound roofed decks and four mature coconut palm trees at every corner make this a virtual oasis and a welcome relief from the hot midday sun.

Let the sunshine in.
There are hardly any walls at The Exuma Outpost. All the doors open up directly to water. The rain pool in the atrium on one side and of course the ocean to the other. Everything is white washed with chalk paint. Bright and airy. Today is one of those days where the sun light has this pristine quality. The ocean is placid like a sheet of glas reflecting all this splendor through the windows. It’s a magical sight to behold.
