As I sit here and reflect on my upcoming 48th birthday, I am reminded by the fact that one of my friends said she had prayed that I would die after learning I had a stroke and a brain aneurysm on top of a debilitating, degenerative, terminal neurological disorder. She cried when I called her from my ICU bed - unable to talk, but able to mouth that I was okay, she said that she thought there was no way I would come out of that the same. She was scared that I could be in a vegetative state if I lived. But here I am, nearly two years later, winning music awards and sharing my testimony locally and internationally - singing through a trach and thankful for every day since that tragedy that I get to love up on my children. I did not lose anything but the use of my legs and hands, but my brain still functions to perfection. I am still adept, astute, vivacious, and intellectually comprehensive. So, my friend, there is no need to cry or pray that I would die. Celebrate the fact that I am a living miracle, I am someone who defied all the odds. When I was first diagnosed, people tried to hook me up with family members of persons who had already died from this disease. They wanted me to know what to expect. I told them NO, I don't want to meet these people. I said to myself, "I need to see people with this who are alive!" That's when I found a lady online who was told she would be dead two years after being diagnosed; at that point, she had been living for 14 years with the disease. THAT'S whose life I wanted to see. Just like her, my story is different. It's all because I put every ounce of faith that I had into God's hands. The reality is I'm alive and the bills keep coming😐😐😐. I'm fighting to be here for my daughters, who need their mother. My love has never been tested so hard before. It's that mother's love that wants me to wake up every morning. So, please celebrate my year 48 with a donation of love so I can continue to be a living witness for Jesus Christ and a loving mother to my girls. Thank you.
