We have signed this petition calling for larger and safer anchoring locations around Corsica where it has become almost impossible to safely operate a charter yacht over 24m
The same thing is happening in south of France, Italy and Sardinia.

Cruising these areas this summer aboard Che, a 35m catamaran, we have had a very difficult time finding safe anchorages due to distance from the shore lines that we are obligated to stay. Usually in rough seas and honestly not worth the time we put into visiting.

Full disclosure, it is all in the name of protecting the sea grass which seems to have taken a huge priority over commerce and safety.

I understand the need to protect the natural habitat but in doing so, the authorities should provide an alternative solution such as sturdy moorings.

In Italy during the summer, I watched countless yachts under 24 anchoring up close to the shore line and tearing up the sea grass while we anchored almost half a km away so that our anchor did not do the same. As a professional mariner. We always anchor in sand because we know that’s the only way to get a good hold. We steer clear of sea grass at all costs.

If you support this petition, please help the yacht industry and sign.
If you don’t support it, I completely understand. But one thing is for sure.
We will no longer be proposing yacht charters on yacht over 24m in the above mentioned locations due to this very inconvenient and dangerous stipulation by the local authorities.
