When I was young, early morning on this day I use to wake up early at this time and get ready to go to the dzong( fortress) with a mat to reserve seats for the festival which will start from 9 am. But all the festivals I never did sit and watch, I would go around the fortress eating all kinds of junk and buying all the toys I could get to play with it, which people from different places come there to sell their goods on this special day. The seats that I reserve early morning would be for my grand parents as they don't get time to go there and reserve a seat for themselves as they have to cook food and pack it to take it to the festival. And search for shades to have it during the lunch hours. At that time people go there to see the festival with the best attire they have to see the festival but now, it's all about ramp walk on a stage🤣🤣. How I miss those days.
Thimphu tshechu(festival) is the mask dance festival which is held every year to know the after life. Every year tourist from all over the world gather to witness the festival but sadly for last 2 years we are also unable to see it due to the current situation.
