Wangditse Lhakhang

One of the easiest hiking trails in Thimphu. You can drive all the way upto the the base and from there it's a gentle half an hour walk to the monastery.

Perfect for family and it gives a beautiful view of Thimphu valley along with the Tashicho Dzong.

The Planters trail or the Sagala trek.

Gorgeous pristine sceneries abound this hike, whick takes you through an old trail used by people travelling to Paro to help with the rice plantation in the olden days. It is a 3 day hike that begins in Haa and ends with a panaromic 360 degree view of neighbouring Paro valley.

Paro Taktsang

Taktsang or the "Tiger's nest", the climb to the monastery takes about 2-3 hours from the road. The total walking distance is about 4 kilometers one way with 900 Meter in elevation gained.

Laya is 5-6 hours hike from the nearest motorable road. You will drive 3 hours from Gasa to Tongshodra on a farm road. From here you will hike for 5-6 hours to reach the village. Situated at an altitude of 3800 m (12,468 ft), this village is inhabited by the indigenous layap people.

Bemri Hike
Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: 5-6 hours

Start your hike from Hephu, Paro. It takes two and half hours to reach the monastery. Once you reach the monastery, you'll have great views of both Thimphu and Paro Valley.

If you are active and want a more challenging hike, you can hike to the same spot from Gida valley in Thimphu.

Bumdrak Hike, Paro
Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: 5 hours

From Sang Choekhor, steadily climb uphill through the ridge covered by forests. About after 3 hours of gradual climb, you reach a spot overlooking the Paro valley with spectacular views. Continue to hike for about one and half hours to reach the campsite.

Gangtey Nature Trail
Difficulty: Easy
Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours

From Gangtey Monastery, hike through the pine forest and small bamboo shrubs. One of the most beautiful and gentle trails in Bhutan. Provides a spectacular view of the Phobjikha valley.
