Snowman Race Happening Soon

Emanated from His Majesty The King, the Secretariat will launch
one of the world's toughest and high-altitude ultra-marathons
following a historic high-altitude trekking route of Snowman Trek
(from Gasa to Bumthang) on 13th October 2022.
• Snowman Race is a staged race (5 days/4 nights) during which
thirty of the world's top extreme runners will attempt one of the
most remote and challenging foot races ever initiated.

What are Night-halts or Aid stations?

Night halt/ Aid-station is established camp points on the race
course that provide accommodation, food, emergency and
medical support to the runners.
• Snowman Race has 4-night halts - 1) Rodophu 2) Tsojo 3) Geche
Wom and 4) Dhur Tshachu.

Blessed Rainy Day (Thrue Bab) arrives as the end of the monsoon and the beginning of the harvest season in Bhutan.
It is believed that during the day, rainwater is imbued with a special elixir, sprinkled from heaven by Buddha.
Each year Astrologers will determine the exact hour when this auspicious event takes place. On the eve of Blessed Rainy Day, people will fill buckets of water and leave them out overnight to make sure the water gets sanctified at the right time. It is then taken bath with the blessed water to eliminate diseases, bad karma, bad luck, and other negative influences.

Bhutan to receive its first tourist next week after more than a year

After more than a year, Bhutan will receive its first tourist next week. She is an American who visited the country in 2019 as well. According to the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), there are many like her who have expressed their interest to visit Bhutan. However, they are yet to register with the council. As per a recent notification from the TCB, all incoming tourists will have to apply through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. They will have to undergo the 21-day mandatory facility quarantine and also pay the daily sustainable development fee of USD 65 for the period. Moreover, they will be required to bear the charges for quarantine and COVID tests.
