Rangjung_Woesel_Choeling_Monastery is located in Eastern Bhutan under Trashigang district at Rangjung. The monastery was founded by His Eminence Dungsey Garab Dorje Rinpoche in the year 1989 with few monks and nuns. The objective of monastery is to provide a conducive haven for the study of Buddha dharma as expounded in the Dudjom New Treasure Lineage and carry out dharma activities for the benefit of the Buddhist community in and abroad the country. It has a flourishing community with branches monasteries and retreat centers.

The suspension bridge is a pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Pho Chhu River in Punakha, Bhutan. The bridge is made of steel cables and is suspended high above the river below. The bridge spans a distance of approximately 160 meters and is about 1.2 meters wide.

Walking across the suspension bridge is an exhilarating experience, as you feel the bridge sway slightly under your feet with each step you take. As you cross, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The bridge is especially beautiful during the spring months when the valley is in full bloom with colorful flowers.

The suspension bridge is located just a short walk from the Punakha Dzong, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bhutan. Visitors can easily combine a visit to the Punakha Dzong with a trip to the suspension bridge.

6 September 2024: His Majesty The King granted an Audience to the participants of the 66th batch of Desuung training, a special 10-day program tailored for individuals aged 55 to 75, currently being held at SRPF Tashigatshel in Chukha.

The training, which began on September 1st, runs alongside the 65th Batch Accelerated Desuung Training Programme taking place at various centers across the country.

A total of 97 participants– 84 men and 13 women, are part of this initiative. Developed in response to requests from older citizens eager to serve, the program has adapted its physical training to meet the needs of senior participants, while preserving the key elements of the Desuung curriculum.

His Majesty thanked the trainees for their enthusiasm in joining Desuung, and said that their wisdom and experience would be valuable contributions to the Desuung fraternity.

Lingzhi Yügyal Dzong is an important Drukpa Kagyu monastery and administrative center situated at an altitude of 4150 meters to the north of Paro under Thimphu District. The Dzong was built in 1668 by the third Desi of Bhutan, Chögyal Minjur Tenpa (1667-1680) to commemorate the victory over a Tibetan victory in the war of 1667 and named Yügyal Dzong. It controlled the border between Tibet and Bhutan and was one of the main defensive fortresses in the north of Bhutan.

5 September 2024:

Gyalsung – Bhutan’s National Service, was launched simultaneously at the four Gyalsung Academies in Khotokha in Wangduephodrang, Pemathang in Samdrup Jongkhar, Gyalpozhing in Mongar, and Jamtsholing in Samtse today.

His Majesty The King graced the launch ceremony at Jamtsholing Academy in Samtse, and Addressed Gyalsups at their various Academies from there.

His Majesty thanked the armed forces, praising their devotion and courage, and said that they will continue to be relied on to make National Service hugely successful.

His Majesty also thanked the Gyalsung core team, ministries, departments, civil servants, and the people of Bhutan, particularly the parents of the Gyalsups.

The National Service, His Majesty said, has been built based on who we truly are– It is grounded in our courage, our resilience, our humility, our righteousness. It is based on our discipline, our culture, and our values. It is also built upon what we aim to achieve and where we envision Bhutan in the future.

“We are not going to leave anything to chance—everything is going to be by design. It is providence.”

His Majesty described the present as a momentous time in our nation’s history, in which decisions and actions we take today will determine Bhutan’s future as a strong, independent, sovereign nation into the next millennium. “What we do here today will live on, in the time of our children, our grandchildren, our great grandchildren, and long after we are dead and forgotten,” His Majesty said.

His Majesty also spoke about Bhutan’s goal of becoming one of the most relevant countries in a catchment area of two billion people, and the comprehensive and major initiative– a transformation– being carried out to secure our future.

“We will have to make up for the numbers we don’t have with talent, coordination, discipline, intellect, and by fully understanding the world we live in, down to every minute detail. We will have to take full advantage of our sovereign prerogatives, guided by our sensibilities and ambition,” His Majesty said.

It is our good fortune that we get this honour and privilege of building that beautiful Bhutan, His Majesty said.

“We all love our country very much. We are proud of who we are. But I truly believe we can become even better. The world has not seen who we really are or what we are capable of. I intend to unleash that potential. Every single step we have taken so far has been to amplify who we are, to reinforce our identity, and to align it to a prosperous, stable, and bright future.”

Promising to visit them frequently, His Majesty expressed confidence that Gyalsups will see tremendous transformation in themselves and one another, and embody the values that will enable them to achieve great things.

His Majesty conveyed Bhutan’s gratitude to India’s Prime Minister Modi and the government of India for their invaluable support, encouragement, and contribution.

Over 2000 Gyalsups are part of the historic pioneering batch, whose 3-month training period begins with the launch today. During this period, Gyalsups will undergo basic military training (BMT) interspersed with lessons on national education, Driglam Namzha, Choeshey Larim, leadership development, life skills, and other activities that will prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Since yaks cannot survive below 3,500 meters (10,500 feet), they are found at higher altitudes, usually above 4,500 meters (12,500 feet) and sometimes, as high as 6,100 meters (18,300 feet). Unique hemoglobin in the yak's blood may have assisted the creature in adapting to high altitudes. Yaks are rather large creatures, standing nearly 6 feet tall at the shoulder, with male adults weighing over a ton. Females of the species tend to weigh about a third of that. An endangered species, yaks are not helped by the fact that they bear only one young after a nine month gestation period, and that baby yaks need a full year to ween before they can survive on their own.

The Beauty of Trongsa Dzong.

Tashichoed Dzong;
Tashichhoe Dzong housed the original National
Assembly, the secretariat, the throne room and offices
of the king and the ministries of home affairs and
finance. The northern portion is the summer residence
of the Dratshang (Central Monk Body). The outer
structure is two storeys high with three-storey towers
at the four corners projecting out over the walls. The
outer walls are built of trimmed and fitted granite
blocks, unlike other Dzongs, which were made of
roughly dressed stones.

3 September 2024: His Majesty The King visited Pemathang Gyalsung Academy in Samdrup Jongkhar, on September 2nd, for an inspection of the site in preparation for the official launch of the Gyalsung program on September 5th. Pemathang is one of four Gyalsung academies established across the country, alongside Khotokha in Wangdue Phodrang, Gyalpozhing in Mongar, and Jamtsholing in Samtse.

The first cohort of young Gyalsups have already arrived and are being housed in temporary accommodations, while the academy’s main facilities are still under construction and scheduled for completion next year.

During the visit, His Majesty met with the Gyalsups and the team responsible for managing the program at Pemathang. His Majesty emphasized that the physical and mental well-being of the Gyalsups is of paramount importance. His Majesty stressed that the young people be well taken care of, comfortable, and happy throughout their training period.

The Gyalsung program, Bhutan’s National Service, was announced by His Majesty during the National Day celebrations in 2019. It represents a landmark initiative aimed at empowering Bhutanese youth to become successful and capable citizens, ensuring a bright future for the nation.

While in Samdrup Jongkhar, His Majesty also visited Dewathang to meet with the Desuups at the ongoing 65th Batch Desuung training programme. His Majesty travelled to Samdrup Jongkhar from Gelephu, after granting Audiences to government officials and Desuups training for the 65th Batch at Pelrithang.

This festival falls during mushroom season in summer every year. The festival takes place in two different locations Genekha in Thimphu and Ura valley in Bumthang. At the festival, visitors will be learn to identify these fabled mushrooms as they embark on mushroom picking excursion around the pristine forests and hills. During the festival, the native mushroom and other local products, mushroom hunting, and cultural programmes by the school and local community will be showcased. The objective of the festival is to create awareness on the sustainable harvesting of the local mushroom and enjoy the organic natural flavors of nature.

21 August 2024: His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen held an audience with Their Majesties King Letsie III and Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso in Tashichodzong today. The King and Queen of Lesotho were accompanied by their daughters, Their Royal Highnesses Princess Maseeiso Mohato Seeiso and Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso. The Lesotho Royal Family were warmly welcomed to Bhutan by Their Majesties. Honour Guard Contingents from the Royal Bhutan Army, Royal Bhutan Police, Royal Bodyguards, and Desuung presented a Guard of Honour. The King of Lesotho is in Bhutan on an 8-day State Visit at the invitation of His Majesty The King, and arrived in Bhutan yesterday. The Kingdom of Lesotho is a mountainous, landlocked nation in Southern Africa, known for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.

Willard Carroll Smith II(Will Smith) will be in the country for about 13 days for documentary filming. The production undertaken by Nutopia Limited for National Geographic’s Filming project. Willard Carroll Smith II (born on September 25, 1968) also known by his stage name The Fresh Prince, is an American actor and rapper. He began his career starring as a fictionalized version of himself on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He won many awards as an actor including Oscar for best actor for his portrayal of Venus and Serena Williams' father Richard in the tennis biopic "King Richard". During his stay in the country, the actor will be visiting Punakha, Gasa(Laya), Wangdue Phodrang and Chhukha.
