Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungthang Dechen Phodrang Dzong, is a majestic fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (male) and Mo Chhu ( Female)rivers in Punakha, Bhutan.

Constructed in 1637 by Ngawang Namgyal, the first Zhabdrung Rinpoche, it served as the administrative and religious center of Bhutan until the capital was moved to Thimphu in the 1950s.
