Upcoming Festivals in Bhutan You can’t miss!

The Druk Wangyel Tshechu is a unique and vibrant festival in Bhutan, celebrated in honor of the courageous Bhutanese soldiers and their victory over Indian insurgents in 2003. "Tshechu" translates to "tenth day" and is a religious festival in Bhutan, often involving colorful masked dances, performances, and rituals.
What makes the Druk Wangyel Tshechu distinctive is that it was introduced fairly recently, in 2011, by the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. Unlike traditional tshechus, this festival is performed by the Royal Bhutan Army and is held at the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (temple) near the Dochula Pass, which offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
During the festival, the soldiers perform various mask dances, showcasing Bhutanese culture, history, and religious stories. It's a time of celebration and gratitude for the bravery and dedication of the Bhutanese armed forces, with locals and tourists alike coming together to witness the colorful performances and pay homage to the soldiers.
The festival not only celebrates the military triumph but also serves as a reminder of the importance of peace, unity, and the unique cultural heritage of Bhutan. Department of Tourism, Bhutan Book Bhutan Tour WhatsApp: 77707070

Fly fishing in Bhutan is a popular and unique experience for anglers due to its pristine rivers and breathtaking scenery. The country's strict conservation efforts and limited development have helped maintain the natural beauty of its water bodies, making it an appealing destination for fly fishing enthusiasts.

Bhutan is blessed with several rivers, including the Punakha, Paro, and Wang Chhu, which offer excellent opportunities for fly fishing. These rivers are often surrounded by stunning landscapes, including mountains, forests, and valleys.
Abundant Trout: The rivers in Bhutan are home to different species of trout, mainly brown trout and Himalayan snow trout. Anglers can find these species in the clear, cold waters, making it an ideal spot for fly fishing.

Regulations and Conservation: Bhutan places a strong emphasis on environmental conservation. Fishing permits are usually required and can be obtained through authorized tour operators. Catch-and-release policies are often in place to preserve the fish population and maintain the ecological balance.

They have their own unique language, customs, and traditional clothing, particularly known for their distinctive attire, including the conical bamboo hat worn by men and the brightly colored and patterned clothing of the women. The Punakha Dzong (the palace of great happiness or bliss), is the administrative center of Punakha District in Punakha, Bhutan. The dzong was constructed by Ngawang Namgyal, in 1637–38. It is the second oldest and second largest dzong in Bhutan and one of its most majestic structures. The dzong houses the sacred relics of the southern Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, including the Rangjung Kasarpani and the sacred remains of Ngawang Namgyal and the Tertoen Pema Lingpa.
The Dzong is located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers in the Punakha–Wangdue valley. The source of the Mo Chu River is in the northern hills of Ligshi and Laya in Bhutan, and in Tibet. The Pho Chu River is fed by glaciers in the Lunana region of the Punakha Valley. After the confluence of these two rivers, the main river is known as Puna Tsang Chu.
