Paro Taktsang, known as the 'Tiger's Nest', stands as one of Bhutan's most renowned monasteries, attracting admirers from around the globe. Perched precariously on a cliff, it offers breathtaking views of lush forests and the Paro valley. Taktsang has become one of the the first things that you see when you search for Bhutan on the internet. Equally captivating is the origin story of this remarkable structure. Legend has it that in the 7th century, Guru Rinpoche flew to the current temple site on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave to subdue an evil demon dwelling there. Subsequently, in 1692, Paro Taktsang was constructed within the same cave. Beyond its religious significance, Taktsang is a must-visit destination that showcases the beauty and grandeur of Bhutanese architecture. Any journey to Bhutan remains incomplete without a visit to the iconic Paro Taktsang.
