Bhutan has been honored with the 'Outstanding Destination Excellence Award" at the National Geographic Traveler China Golden Awards Ceremony. The awards ceremony took place at the ZHENGDA Center in Beijing and acknowledged outstanding accomplishments in travel, hospitality, lifestyle, and destinations.

His Majesty The King was accompanied by His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck in Laya, Gasa, for the 6th Royal Highland Festival, which began today.

The Royal Highland Festival is an annual event showcasing the unique cultural heritage of the people of the highlands of Bhutan. Highland communities from across Bhutan participate in the festival, which is attended by both domestic and international visitors.

The Royal Highland Festival, an annual October event is a vibrant festival that celebrates the culture and lifestyle of the people living in remote highlands of Bhutan. This two day event from 23rd-24th October every year comprises of dancing, singing, music, local arts and crafts and animal parades.

Changangkha Lhakhang is the oldest temple in Thimphu. Built in 12th century, it is located on a ridge above central Thimphu, with a picturesque view of the vast Thimphu valley.
