We were privileged to host our first guest after we reopened for tourism, Oshi and husband visited Bhutan from Sri Lanka on 26 September 2022. They flew to Bumthang, mingled with locals enjoying local food and beverages. They also celebrated their wedding anniversary. They loved the popular Thimphu festival, hiked through the lush valleys and visited iconic Tiger’s monastery. It was a such a pleasure to meet them both in Thimphu at the end of their Bhutan trip.

It was am absolute pleasure to meet Jose and Kayoko from San Francisco for a relaxed dinner here in Thimphu. They then travelled to Punakha, Phobjikha, Haa and Paro to enjoy the cultural sights and sounds of these beautiful scenic places.

A group of five are already in the country. They visited the Tiger’s Nest and Chelela pass to acclimatize themselves before starting on the popular jumolhari trek.

One of the finest examples of Bhutanese architecture and craftsmanship, the Rinpung Dzong literally means, “Fortress of a Heap of Jewels". The Dzong has many illustrations portraying the life of Buddha. A hike to the top of the fortress welcomes you with the spectacular view of nearby valleys. Every spring, the fortress also holds the colourful annual festival Paro Tshechu which is one of the biggest festivals in Bhutan. Not just a significant holy site in Paro, it also offers panoramic views of the Paro Valley and Paro Chhu river to the visitors. Like most dzongs in Bhutan, it houses monks and is an important administrative centre in the city. The 1995 film starring Keanu Reeves - The Little Buddha was shot in this great fortress.
