Sylvester Travel Solutions emerged in 2012, as a testament to Sylvester Chifamba's business acumen and his passion for traveling. The business began when Sylvester drove a taxi around Gaborone, Botswana and happened to cross paths with a Peace Corps volunteer, who later introduced him to the rest of the group. At the time, volunteers were travelling extensively during their service on unreliable, uncomfortable buses to destinations as far as Mozambique. It was then Sylvester realized the urgency for a local guide with a budget travel plan for volunteers. The volunteers adored Sylvester for his people skills, local knowledge, and fair prices, and rapidly he earned a reputation as the go-to driver for the expatriate community. Sylvester has since covered over 210,000 kilometers, increasing his knowledge base of the region, and with more than 41 tours around Southern Africa, he has created over 330 happy customers. Now, he operates as co-owner and managing director with his wife, Alyssa, and a team of dedicated local professionals, assisting with car rentals, tours, and general travel information.
Sylvester Chifamba is originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, and has spent his entire career in the business sector, most recently as co-owner of a restaurant and bar establishment in Botswana before entering the travel world. He is fluent in Shona, Setswana and English, and also has limited knowledge of other local languages. His passion, dedication and kindness is evident in every aspect of his work, and his eagerness to fulfill the needs of his clients has helped the business grow.
Alyssa Rosen is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, USA, but first fell in love with Southern Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Botswana, where she met Sylvester. She has worked in both the public sector and the private sector, most recently in the public health field, and has extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, and logistics. She is fluent in English, with limited understanding of Setswana, Spanish, and Hebrew, and is working on her Shona. Her organizational, financial and technical skills have been essential to promoting the business and helping it achieve new heights.
