This photo was taken yesterday at the cut line (firebreak) located at the Makolwane gate that is north of the mighty Makgadikgadi salt pans Park.

This game park is also linked to the Khumaga park located near Rakops and Nxai National Park situated in the north. Together these parks as well as the Okavango, Chobe and the CKGR parks create a huge animal corridor.

The flood plains here are vast and green with grazing as far as the eye can see. Currently this park is hosting a massive herd of migratory zebra that are feeding on the rich short grass.

Official data shows that this gate here at Makolwane received a total 98mm in November 2020 and this past Monday got another 10mm. The natural water ponds dotted around this game park are finally getting replenished as more rain is forecast for the last two weeks of December.
