Today, as we mark the final Pink Friday of the month in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness, we acknowledge that cancer affects all of us, whether directly or indirectly.

We stand in solidarity with individuals impacted by this illness, sending forth positive energy and support to our coworkers,our Operators, loved ones, and community members who are facing these hardships. Our commitment to care for one another remains strong, and we want everyone to know that they are not alone on this path.

Let us continue to encourage and support one another as we increase awareness and develop hope.

AG. PS ADDRESES THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

A.G Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Tourism Boatametse Modukanele this afternoon told a packed hall at the just ended HATAB conference on government lobby against the impending bill which seeks to ban the importation of trophy by European Union Members. Modukanele updated the industry on the the working visit undertaken by the Hon. Minister Dumezweni Mthimkhulu and his delegation to the United Kingdom to lobby against the impending bill and its impact to livelihoods, noting that both photographic and hunting tourism should be marketed
Modukanele revealed that government is currently working on plan to engage different stakeholders on the matter as well as looking at alternative markets.

This event highlighted an impressive instance of community-based natural resource utilization, focusing on dam tourism. The Ipelego Community Trust exemplified their ownership of these resources, showcasing innovative approaches to harnessing the potential of dams for tourism purposes. Through community-based tourism initiatives, they not only fostered economic opportunities but also promoted environmental conservation and sustainable development practices within the region.

The Department of Tourism actively collaborated with Women and Youth in Tourism to introduce the recently formulated National Tourism Strategy and Master Plan. Recognizing their role as key development partners and crucial stakeholders in the sector, it was imperative to provide them with insights to embrace and position themselves for the diverse opportunities outlined in the Master plan. This engagement aimed to foster a deeper relationship and understanding of the strategy and encourage active involvement among women and youths, enhancing their capacity to leverage the benefits presented by the comprehensive Master plan. Additionally, the initiative sought to establish a platform for ongoing dialogue, ensuring continuous collaboration and alignment with the evolving needs of these essential contributors to the tourism industry.
