Today we celebrate World Elephant Day! 💙 Botswana is home to the largest population of African elephants which exceeds 130 000 elephants and counting. Some interesting ellie facts🤔 Did you know….? 🐘They are the world's largest land animal. 🐘A baby elephant at birth can weigh a whopping 120kg and can stand within 20 minutes of being born. 🐘Elephants have around 150000 muscles in their trunk alone. 🐘Their tusks are incisor teeth which continue to grow throughout their life. 🐘Their skin is approx. 2.5cm thick in most areas. 🐘Elephants need to eat approx. 150kg per day (that’s around 375 tins of baked beans!). 🐘Elephants can communicate through noise & vibration.
