New Safari Camp Openings in Botswana - 2025

Botswana’s safari scene is expanding with exciting new camp openings, offering unparalleled experiences in some of the most breathtaking wilderness areas. As your experts on the ground, we are excited to share renderings of these upcoming lodges.

Here’s what’s coming next:

Ker & Downey Botswana– Maxa (Opening March 2025)
Nestled in a remote wilderness setting, Maxa Camp will accommodate up to 12 guests in four elegantly designed tents, each with en-suite indoor and outdoor bathrooms. A spacious family tent will offer two bedrooms and a shared en-suite, perfect for families seeking adventure. Guests can look forward to authentic safari experiences, including mokoro rides, walking safaris, and game drives.

Machaba Safaris – Monachira Camp (Opening May 2025)

One of the highlights of the tour I recently led in Botswana was showing my guests the waterhole blind in the Central Kalahari, which we call "The Bunker". It's dug into the ground so you can shoot game at eye level, and even get a nice reflection. One of my favorite spots in the whole world to do wildlife photography. While we try to be quiet in the there, I was always mentioning hints and settings, like I do on these tours..."check out the backlit Kudu on the left...1/1250, f4, ISO 1000" and especially here "don't forget to turn your camera to vertical and get that reflection!"
