Sunday Spotlight - Chobe Forest Camp 🇧🇼👣

An ideal 4×4 bush camp and self-drive destination in a wilderness area only 25 minutes drive from Kasane. Close enough to visit the Chobe river but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Kasane.

Chobe Forest Camp consists of 9 private campsites and 3 luxury tents and is completely surrounded by raw nature and wilderness. There are 3 luxury tents on raised wooden decks overlooking a pan and permanent water source surrounded but millions of hectares of wilderness.

Khama Rhino Sanctuary! Cheers 🥂

We love this campsite....the campsites are magnificent...large, private (we were on No 8 this time) and with these incredible trees which when the sun sets come alive with bush babies bounding around the branches!

The Khama Rhino Sanctuary (KRS) is a community based wildlife project, established in 1992 to assist in saving the vanishing rhinoceros, restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Botswana community. Covering approximately, 8585 hectares of Kalahari Sandveld, the sanctuary provides prime habitat for white and black rhino as well as over 30 other animal species and more than 230 species of birds.

We look forward to spending the day out there the following day.

An early morning start and we're off to the border! 🚗 We crossed at Ramatlabama in about 20 minutes, no queues, super easy and just like that we're officially in Botswana - YAY! 🇧🇼

A roadside stop (or tailgating as we call it) for delicious cheese and gammon sandwiches 🥪, a quick shop and then we head to Mokolodi Nature Reserve just outside Gaborone. We've stayed here a couple of times, and it's a great first stop with a proper bush feel. 🌿 The campsites are lovely, extremely well spaced, and very private. Each site has a charming open-air shower with a donkey boiler (you get a bag of wood for that) and a separate toilet. There's also a large fire pit and a sink area with water. 🔥💧

Remember to mention if you have a rooftop tent or are towing, as the sites have a number of trees and some don't suit those setups. The staff are friendly, and there's a small shop on-site and a restaurant (though we didn't visit it). The campsites are quite a way from reception, so be prepared for a bit of a drive to settle in.

After a celebratory GnT, we explored a bit and started our Botswana animal and bird count! 🐦 For dinner, we had a lekker braai with a meatball and spaghetti dish - yum and easy. 🍝

It's so good to be back in Botswana!

Sunday Spotlight - Guma Lagoon Camp 🇧🇼👣

A little gem. An oasis on the banks of the Guma Lagoon on the northwestern side of the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

Guma offers both self-catering and full board accommodation. Accommodation is provided in spacious canvas chalets, all en suite and located on the edge of the lagoon. Alternatively they have seven campsites under shady trees with private ablutions. Accesible by 4WD only from Etsha 13 village. This little camp is paradise for the adventurous. Fishing, Mokoros, Boating and helicopter scenic on offer.

Day 15 - 17. Spend 2 nights in Khumaga exploring the Boteti region of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, before returning back to Maun on Day 17. 🇧🇼🐾

Known for its abundant wildlife and scenic beauty. More and more campsites are appearing here so it is hard to decide where. It also means this area can become congested in peak season. It is a good midway point between Moremi & Sauvte. Alternatively Mababe has some campsite options and a good place to stay as an alternative.🇧🇼🐾

Drive to Moremi and set up camp in the heart of the Wilderness. There are three options for campsites, located at South gate, Third Bridge and Xakanaxa.
Campsites are not fenced, and offer serviced ablution blocks.
