MISS GUIDED SAFARIS will be hosted by The Adventure Festival Copenhagen, Adventurous Souls] ❤️

May 5th - 7th 2023 in Copenhagen

The Adventure Festival Copenhagen, Adventurous Souls]
・・・

„Fortunately, there is gin, the sole glimmer in this darkness. Do you feel the golden, copper-coloured light it kindles in you? I like walking through the city of an evening in the warmth of gin.” – Albert Camus

What Albert Camus puts so epically, we experienced literally in the African wilderness. I wish he would have had the chance to splash lagoon water barefooted in this golden, copper-colored light and sip on a cool Okavango Gin & Tonic.

Here’s to all the eyes and hearts who truly see this mesmerizing beauty, like Albert and Earth Ark Productions] . An epic evening on our shoot. Thank you for that outstanding experience and the drinks. 😋 LOVED. IT.

Today Botswana, celebrates its independence, attained in 1966.

While spending a bit of time digging into Botswanas history I came across a quote from Botswanas first president, Sir Seretse Khama.

His words in a speech delivered 1967 (!) couldn’t be more true today:
„I think that the trouble we now face in the world is caused mainly by the refusal to try and see another man’s point of view, to try and persuade by example - and the refusal to meet a rather passionate desire to impose your own will upon others, either by force or other means.“

Here’s to more compassion, respect and appreciation for one another - all around the globe.

Why is it
you can never hope
to describe the emotion
Africa creates.
You are lifted.
Out of whatever pit,
unbound from whatever tie,
released from whatever fear.
You are lifted
and you see it all from above.

I am delighted to celebrate today’s Africa Day. On this day, in 1963, the Organization of African Unity – now known as the African Union – was established. Today I reflect on the accomplishments of people across the African continent, and on the challenges they still endure.

Discover your strength. Inside and out.
Reveal your hidden power. Switch it on.
Strike your light. Set yourself on fire.

There is a power within all of us, that we’re often unaware off. We fear. We hesitate. We shy away.

Yet, if we step outside of what’s our usual, our personal normal, our comfort, there is a whole new world to be filled with YOU!

Let me show you what I mean. I’ve been there (fear, hesitation, self judgement, all of it), got through it and also walk straight back into the same traps still… but get out faster and more confident every single time.

Miss Guided Safaris tours train exactly that without putting you on the spot. It just Nature-ally happens. So you got the best teacher on our female only safaris: THE Mother of all. Nature.

Next trips coming up soon and we have only a few seats open. Secure yours!

June 2022 - Namibia (2 seats)
July 2022 - Botswana (3 seats)
August 2022 - Botswana (2 seats)
September 2022 - Botswana (full)

November 2022 - Namibia (1-2 seats)

Life sometimes is an uphill battle and it can slow you down. UNLESS you choose it, laugh as hard about yourself as you can and have your friends racing uphill with you.

Our race up at the arch at Spitzkoppe became kinda slow motion 😂

Take some time out, take off your shoes and let your soul dangle.
Even though Miss Guided Safaris tours are often wild, there are also many moments of rest, contemplation and relaxation. It's all about the balance, isn't it?

And just as the mix of tension and relaxation increases the sense of self, we also choose the natural spaces we explore with this awareness.

You are not my competition, you are my sister. 🙌🏼👭

The "women's issue" (quotas, equal rights, etc.) has always annoyed me somehow. And at the same time I tried to understand why I wanted to have little to do with it, because I define myself by more than being a woman. I'm a woman. But otherwise we're all the same - that's always been my attitude.

We are harmonious and conflictual, fearful and brave, sociable and alone, secure and doubtful, want intimacy and distance, are smart and flat, strong and weak - all at the same time and all different. We can do anything and we don't have to do anything.

I hope the shaming stops, the expectation of what and who we must be. How loud, how adventurous, how impulsive, how powerful...it's our choice.

Today, I wish I had been more motivated and boundless in my support of women I celebrate much earlier. But I was still looking for my own place - me - and therefore was competitive or envious of others and could not let their light shine so brightly, because then my insecurity about my own light would have become even stronger. Fortunately, I have changed that and also my attitude.

Terms like "Rabenmutter" or „Catfight" do not do us justice and cause rebel against each other. That has to stop and it does.

I'm so thankful that - at least for me and I hope for more and more women - it's not about 'her or me' but about both and about togetherness and cooperation. And I’m so grateful, for the incredible women in my life ❤️.

Let's celebrate each other, support each other, and lift each other up, because that's our nature.

Raindrops getting bigger and bigger and slowly fill up the channels and waterways of the Okavango Delta again. But the young leaf of the Mopane doesn’t immediately absorb the drop of water falling on it; she slowly drinks with great pleasure.

One day we dance through dry grass in the Wilderness, the next day we sleep out under the stars on vast salt pans without a blade of grass in sight and the next day you wake up to a morning with lightning and big rain drops pattering on your tent. I‘m stunned by the diversity of experiences and impressions this place gives with us every day. The constant exposure to nature‘s powers and beauty humbles me and only leaves me amazed.

Exhale. Dance. Inhale. Dance.

It’s the last couple of days before the rain starts in Botswana. This time of the year the game viewing is just incredible. It’s dry and admittedly pretty hot. But the vegetation is very low, only very view trees and bushes already show new life 🌱 and that allows us to spot, observe and hang out with the wildlife a lot easier then in the green season. A perfect time for your Miss Guided Safari in 2022.

Yet, a little side note: don’t just jump out of the car and dance around… their might be a leopard under the next blue bush or a pride of lions using the termite mound next to you as a lookout 🦁

Safari-ing with just ladies teaches me over and over again how powerful, brave and aware women are. I’m amazed how willing and capable they are to push their inner and outer boundaries, step out of their comfort zones and overcome fears. Always on a lookout for the next challenge to take it on and rise above themselves. I‘m deeply grateful to create experiences together that change lives and empower greatly. What challenges are you willing to take on rise above?

Safari is everywhere, one says.

And yes, safari means journey and we all are on a journey - mentally, spiritually, physically - everyday.
Yet, I rather safari in the African Wild with like-minded women, than in a subway to an office job. What’s your favorite kind of safari? Happy Wednesday ☀️

Today in Botswana, the country that became my second home, we celebrate Independence Day, referred to locally as 'Boipuso'. In our national flag, the black and white colours symbolise collaboration between people of different races and cultures AND a belief in intercultural cooperation and equality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm dedicated to contribute to this beautiful as well as necessary mission with all my heart and mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that your day doesn’t stop once the sun sets after a wild day in the African bush.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The morning and afternoon game drives may have come to an end, but there’s a whole second half of the day ‘beyond the Big 5’ patiently waiting to unfold. It’s one of pure magic and it begins after sunset.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are only 3 reasons why Africa is even better once the sun goes down:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#1 Boma Banter⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many camps and lodges have traditional bomas. Historically, bomas were enclosed fences used to house livestock overnight to protect them from predators. However, in modern day safari, they have transformed into an atmospheric and inviting setting to absorb the night sounds of the bush while enjoying a cup of tea or Amarula around a crackling fire.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#2 Stargazing⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The skies are bigger and the stars shine brighter in Africa. Camping in remote wilderness areas have the pleasure to witness the twinkling sensations in complete solitude at night. A tilt of the head and you could see more stars than you’d ever hope to count. Stargazers can enjoy the beauty of the unclouded galaxies and learn a few of the night sky tall tales from our guides who know them best.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#3 Drifting to sleep ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wildlife, sundowner drives, boma banter, and stargazing – at the end of the day you’ll need to rest your body and mind from all the impressions, experiences and emotions and sleep like a queen knowing you get to do it all again tomorrow. OR you listen to the sounds of the night: lions calling, hippos snorting, or hyena roaming around camp looking for some left overs of unwary campers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Thought in reflection of yesterday’s „the eye is the mirror to one’s soul“. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What has your heart seen that your eyes won’t forget? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me one of the most stunning sights for my heart is the vastness and tranquility of the Makgadikgadi Pans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have a beautiful morning ☀️

21/06/2021

Everyone knows the expression “the eye is the mirror of the soul”. But who thought about its meaning? One of the main sensory organs is the eyes. With their help we see this world. This is so familiar a process that we begin to understand its meaning only by losing this ability.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is the eyes that are usually associated with the human soul. Why is that? Perhaps because they can not lie. After all, you can cheat with facial expressions or words, but not with a look. The view of a person is sometimes so eloquent that it does not require additional words. It’s enough to look at a person like that, and s/he will understand everything right away.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you see when you look into your own eyes today carefully?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Harriet Chalmers Adams (1875 – 1937) was an American explorer, writer and photographer. She traveled extensively in South America, Asia and the South Pacific in the early 20th century, and published accounts of her journeys in National Geographic magazine.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Harriet Chalmers Adams spent her life traveling through some of the world's most remote places and promoting fellow female explorers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today there are plenty amazing courage’s ladies who are true explorers, wild adventurers and who lead expeditions into the last corners of our planet. Let’s honor their achievements and become part of their tribe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Do you know that feeling, when you wake up, full of energy and feel you are about to take a major step?

This morning I felt trying out this whole video editing thing and overcome my inner obstacle. Flip, I always felt so overwhelmed with this stuff. But hey, I’m very happy with my first try.

What it mainly taught me though wasn’t that I can put it together (with tools which basically do it for you anyways 😉), but to just do what I gotta do, minor or major. To be fearless of what everyone might think. - Cards are on the table now guys. - I often struggled with (potential) opinions of people. I gave too much of a f*** (excuse my French), didn’t pay enough attention to the really important messages from higher powers, ignored signs and tried too hard where I didn’t have any influence. Yup, much older, but not wiser. 😂

It’s so interesting how different these feelings and traits are from when I’m on Safaris, privately or on Miss Guided Safaris tours. But that’s another story.

Anyways, recently I’m having epiphany after epiphany in my outside-bush-life and I wonder why only now. I guess because I’m 42 and that’s the answer to everything, at least according to Douglas Adams. 🙏🏾 Or because Im actually putting my whole me - with painful and beautiful consequences- into conscious transformation, growth and evolvement. No Ego in my way of my true feelings. Yup, it’s a pain in the a** but it’s the only way 💃🏼

Seems like this post is more of a conversation with myself ... not so Safari-ish, but something to learn about me for everyone interested in The (authentic) Miss of Miss Guided Safaris.

Happy weekend to all lovely people and to everyone else.☀️

Oh, to my very best people: your opinion always matters to me 😉
