Belize COVID-19 Laws and Penalties
The Laws of Belize - SI No. 175 of 2020 states it is mandatory to wear a face mask, and social distance
Only exceptions for travelers:
• On a high intensity tour where the guide is 6 feet apart. For example - hiking, climbing, rappelling
• Snorkeling, active swimming
• Once guest is seated in a restaurant to eat
• Beach - once sufficient distance is maintained fr
om other
guests. A fine up to BZ$500 for failure to wear face mask covering the mouth and nose for any individual, and up to BZ$5,000 for a business owner. A charge of BZ$500 for failure to social distance to an individual or up to BZ$5,000 for a business owner. Any person who contravenes, incites, or attempts to incite any person to contravene any of these regulations commits an offence. Offences where there is no penalty assigned, shall be liable to a fine of BZ$5,000 or imprisonment for two years. A person who is convicted of a second or subsequent offence under these regulations is liable to imprisonment for two years. Please note, you are responsible for all quarantine fees if you break the law, and you are Covid positive.
