The Tripod of Environmental Progress

"Policies need to be rooted in what’s attainable. Without the innovation that led to affordable, biodegradable containers, the policy simply would not work. And without the behavioural change to spark the innovation, it would not have occurred at all." See what TREE team leader Jordan says in this thoughtful article about sustainability.

https://medium.com/sustainability-keys/the-tripod-of-environmental-progress-4340a1c4a83a

Behavioral change is important, but it’s not enough. We also need innovation and policy changes to get us where we need to be.

Thanks for hooking us up with great quality shirts to wear in the jungle. This view right here is why I do what I do. Being on top of Turtle Mountain is one of the most peaceful, idyllic, and calming experiences, every single time (even the time I almost fell off, but that's a different story). You can't help but be present when looking out over the entire Amazon rainforest. And there's barely any insects, though we did see spider monkeys, bullet ants, screaming pihas, red and green macaws, vultures, and an agouti on the hike. We then camped for the night at the base of the mountain, slinging up hammocks with mosquito nets that weren't even needed, and an awesome packed dinner provided by was waiting at base when we came down. Always an unforgettable experience in Guyana

TREE Guyana 2019 was incredible! From camping in hammocks in the jungle to climbing Turtle Mountain to walking the Canopy Walkway, we were immersed in the rainforest and a its beauty. And it wasn't just the natural beauty that surrounded us - it was also the people. True to Guyana form we were welcomed with open arms to the lodge, the Rupununi, and even a Christmas party for the kids in Fairview village. This was one of the best and most authentic experiences of my life. Thank you Guyana 🇬🇾🥰

Our Story

TREE was created to harness adventure travel as a means to increase sustainability in tropical rainforests, Caribbean islands, and coral reefs. Our mission is to achieve conservation through exploration.

____________________________________________________________

We specialize in three things: rainforest exploration, cultural experiences, and conservation.

First and foremost, we take people into the heart of tropical rainforest and reef ecosystems. Second, we immerse in the cultures of Belize, Guyana, and Jamaica. And third, we promote conservation and sustainable living through experiential education and supporting local protected areas. In order to get the most out of these experiences we constantly push individuals to step outside of their comfort zone and embrace the area beyond, a place we refer to as the "magic zone." If you are able step outside of that familiar comfort zone amazing experiences await - experiences that could not happen unless you make the conscious effort to get uncomfortable. Contrary to how it sounds, being uncomfortable will actually lead to a more enjoyable trip and might possibly make your TREE expedition a defining event in your life. Once you are comfortable being uncomfortable you will be able to sleep on any surface, sleep near any giant insect, hike through any terrain, deal with any heat or humidity, and truly enjoy yourself in the forest. If you are able to get to this level then you will also be able to experience the real culture of whichever CARICOM nation you are in. With deep exposure to both the natural environments and cultures of these countries, and informal discussions led by TREE staff, you will gain experiential knowledge without the need for a classroom. The forest becomes a classroom. Cultural activities become recess. And you leave with a better understanding of the challenges and the best paths forward for conservation and sustainability. If that occurs, mission completed.
