Healthy mangrove forests can mean the difference between life and death during a cyclone.”

Last summer along with the GLA students we had the pleasure of building a mangrove Nursery in our campsite at Warrie Bight, where we have planted over 200 mangrove seedlings.

p.s i will be sharing more information on our campsite in a further post. Stay Tuned!

Today is a good day to go out and explore, have you heard of the beach traps?

They are a traditional way of fishing, today, the traditional stingray shaped beach trap is made with sticks, but we have records that over a hundred years ago, they were made of stones!

You can explore and experience this tradition by booking a trip with us to learn more about our culture, support our locals, but especially to help conserve Corozal Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

We're excited to kickstart the year with a remarkable tale of exploration and environmental stewardship! We recently hosted an unforgettable 8-day journey for students and teachers from The Greene School, Rhode Island, USA, in partnership with Global Leadership Adventures. Immersed in Belize's diverse river-to-reef ecosystems, they discovered a wide array of wildlife and cultural treasures, from ancient Maya ruins to the vibrant community of Sarteneja. Venturing into the Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve, they marveled at the wonders of the barrier reef. Their commitment to sustainability shone through as they participated in a community clean-up and planted mangrove and Mahogany trees, leaving a greener legacy. A visit to Wildtracks deepened their understanding of Manatee conservation efforts.

We owe the success of this expedition to our dedicated CBEA and SACD staff, including accommodation providers, restaurants, local artists, and businesses, whose support ensures the success of our endeavors. Special thanks go to Wildtracks for allowing us access to their facility and the Three Lagoons Sustainability Program for their generous contribution of Mahogany trees, a symbol of our collective commitment to preserving Belize's natural treasures.

Join us as we continue to pave the way for responsible tourism, one adventure at a time. Together, let's explore, learn, and protect the wonders of our beautiful bay.

Over this past summer, we hosted 3 student group expeditions!! Where we had the privilege of showing international students the beauty of CBWS and ways to preserve it.
The students participated in activities such as, Traditional Fisher Beach Trap Visit; Visiting local artists; Lionfish Jewelry Making; Eco Camp; BCMR Turtle Nest Cleaning and Snorkeling; Learning about Manatee Conservation and many more!!
Overall, we had a very busy summer and we are grateful for all the help that we got from the community.
