In response to inclement weather impacting visitations to archaeological reserves, the Institute of Archaeology, National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) is pleased to announce that the Crystal Cave has been declared as a temporary alternative cave destination for visitors.
Following thorough inspections, the IA/NICH has determined that the cave is suitable for increased visitation. In the coming weeks, a river level gauge will be installed to monitor water conditions during adverse weather, along with ongoing assessments to ensure visitor safety and effective management of the cave.
Presently, the Crystal Cave is currently open to all operators, guides, and visitors under the following criteria:
1. Reporting Requirements: All visitation to the Crystal Cave must be reported at the Nohoch Chโeen Ticket Office. The entrance fee is the same as at Nohoch Chโeen ($10 BZ), in addition to a discounted Chukka Belize access fee of $110 BZ (includes use of safety gear and assistance by Chukka Staff).
2. Safety Equipment Requirement: To maintain maximum safety standards, all visitors are required to use Chukka equipment including life jacket, helmet, and lights for access to the cave.
3. On-site Monitoring: IA Park Staff will be present to conduct regular monitoring and ensure compliance with safety equipment use, timeliness of tours, and use of designated routes.
The IA/NICH is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
