They experienced camping from childhood as a family activity and with t
he help of local partner, Rob Alvarado wish to provide this opportunity to the families of Belize and those whom love and visit her. Watch us developed as we are at the beginning. We hope to include a sustainable farm experience, in a more natural jungle setting and education on plants, animals and past cultures. We will be building huts and covered tent sites in our first phases and will keep posting what is happening.

When travelers imagine visiting Belize, they picture lounging on white-sand beaches. That makes for a wonderful vacation, but there are other areas of Belize worth seeing.

Human-Jaguarundi Conflict
As mentioned in the previous post about the Jaguarundi (herpailurus yagouaroundi) species, they sometimes come into conflict with farmers of fowl livestock. This, however, could be as a result of having birds and other jungle fowl as their main diet in the wild. Chickens, turkeys and other domesticated fowl species are very similar to the jaguarundi’s natural prey. To try to mitigate this conflict, as with other wildcats, livestock should be kept away from the forest edge preferably in a pen. At night, livestock should be cooped in an enclosure that is enclosed from all sides and from above. Although jaguarundis are active during the day as well, a light source can be used to try to deter them from approaching the enclosure. Be sure that enclosures are properly sealed if any section is compromised. Adding a stimulus, such as live wire, can also contribute in mitigating incursions of this and other species into livestock pens.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness under the National Drinking Water Quality Laboratory unit is today observing World Water Day (WWD) 2022. In Belize, the National Hydrological Service has held an annual World Water Day celebration since the late 1990s. The collaboration is with twelve other organizations of which the Ministry of Health and Wellness is a proud active member of the planning committee to observe WWD. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Groundwater – Making the Invisible, Visible.”
As part of the mandate, the laboratory, under the National Drinking Monitoring Program monitors 110 active Rural Water Systems of which more than 75% of these rely on ground water. Together with these systems the Ministry of Health also monitors private wells and the increasingly wide spread of Bottled Water Companies which also rely on ground water aquifers.
Each year, we celebrate to create an avenue for the public to be more informed of the successes and challenges surrounding water resource management in Belize.
