Traveling to Altun Ha from High Way Trails on the three mile long nature trail that traverses through the tropical forest can be accomplished using several means: hiking; horseback riding; horse drawn wagons; or mountain bikes. Whichever mode of transport you choose will give you the experience of being a part of the eco system that surrounds you. While you are on the trail, you will be protected from the sun ray as you travel under the tree canopies looking intensely to catch a glimpse of some wild animal that may be crossing the trails or an exotic tree or bird. Additionally, you will be introduced to the various types of medicinal vegetation and the other interesting trees that make our jungle such an exciting place to visit and experience. While traveling the trail we will take you back to the days when Belize's jungles were major suppliers of hard wood and Sap collected from the Sapodilla tree used for making chewing gum. The Sap was boiled and prepared for shipment to the Ridgley's company to be further processed into chewing gum. The mahogany trees supplied Europe with their choice wood for furniture.
