The last 2 months our peninsula has been very active with sea turtle sightings, with many females coming up to shore at night looking for a good nesting spot or actually laying eggs (we have already had a few nests hatch!). With all this excitement, the CRC has observed an issue…��We have had 3 female sea turtles get disoriented due to porch or security lights, some even crossing Placencia Road!!! We are asking for the community’s help to please at this time to turn off any lights at night to ensure no sea turtles get severely hurt. ��For those who have nests in front of their place, please remember around the time of hatchling to turn off your house lights during this period to ensure the baby sea turtles follow the moonlight to the sea.

Los últimos 2 meses nuestra península ha estado muy activa con avistamientos de tortugas marinas, con muchas hembras llegando a la costa por la noche en busca de un buen lugar para anidar o incluso poniendo huevos (¡ya hemos eclosionado algunos nidos!). Con todo este entusiasmo, el CRC ha observado un problema...
Hemos tenido 3 tortugas marinas hembras que se desorientaron debido al porche o las luces de seguridad, ¡algunas incluso cruzaron Placencia Road! Estamos pidiendo la ayuda de la comunidad para que en este momento apaguen las luces durante la noche para garantizar que ninguna tortuga marina resulte gravemente herida.
Para aquellos que tienen nidos frente a su lugar, recuerden, alrededor del momento de la cría, apagar las luces de su casa durante este período para garantizar que las crías de tortugas marinas sigan la luz de la luna hasta el mar.
