Today Shell-Ease by the Sea sponsored a mile of the main road for trash clean-up. We picked up over 40 bags of trash! There is a big push to beautify the island and we were proud to take part.

STORM UPDATE...

AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW, San Pedro was a direct hit for hurricane Earl, a category one hurricane. There is quite a bit of damage up and down the coast.

As we saw the approaching storm, even before it became an official tropical storm, we prepared for the very worst conditions. Everything was boarded up, we removed every third board from the dock, boats were brought on to shore, all outdoor furniture and sporting equipment was brought indoors, and all our animals were given shelter for the night.

Our preparation paid off. Our property is by far in the best shape of anyone in within a mile of us. Our dock is the only one left standing and in good condition. Our boats are fine, the house is fine, and most of all all our friends, workers, and animals are alive and well.

The cleanup has begun. We have a tremendous staff and they are working hard to clean up the debris and should have everything in tip top shape by within a week.

For the rest of San Pedro, I have seen how hard people work and come together down here, and I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of the shops and restaurants on the beach are back in operation within a week.

Some of our favorite spots (Palapa Bar) were wiped completely off the map, so they will take a little longer to rebuild. Our hearts go out to EVERYONE on the Atlantic side of the island.

Most of all, our message to you is PLEASE DON'T LET THIS natural disaster affect your decisions to come to Belize. Now more than ever we need your tourism dollars to help rebuild and I PROMISE, you will still have the best time of your life if you come for a visit!

Shell-Ease by the Sea will be back to 100% by the end of the week, and everyone else is busting their humps to do the same.
