How to Pack A Carry-On Like A Pro
Envious of those that travel with JUST A CARRY ON?
Tips to remember when packing a carry-on:
**invest in a new carry on bag
**lightweight fabrics
**gliding wheels that can move in any direction
** USB chargers, digital scales and location-tracking are a few must-have amenities for the modern-day suitcase.
**hint:
Bring along a tape measure when shopping to ensure that the carry-on is compact enough.
Make Time to Pack:
** about an hour, to get it right.
**check the pockets and discard any remnants from previous trips
**fill every space
Select Items that Spark Joy:
**choose clothing that you love and will want to wear
**streamline your wardrobe and pick items to mix and match
**5 day trip --follow the 5,4,3,2,1 rule--5 underwear and socks, 4 tops, 3 bottoms and 2 pairs shoes, 1 purse
**throw in a versatile dress and jacket
**more that week--make time to do laundry
Consider Clothing Materials--for space and weight
**denim is heavier than cotton
**flats rather than boots
**if boots, sweater and jeans spark joy --incorporate them into your plane outfit
Fold Clothing Carefully
**lay item flat, smooth out, fold in rectangle and stack side by side before placing in suitcase
**arrange items like a Tetris ( puzzle) game--start organized, makes unpacking a cinch
Fill Every Inch of Space
**pack shoes heel to toe, stuff soles with socks
**place heavy items like shoes or hair tools in bottom of case--drape clothing around them
**use every inch of space
Figure Out Your Preferred Packing Method:
**rectangle folding
**rolling into tight cylinders
**compression bags
**bundling technique
Coordinate with Travel Companions:
**one bring the shampoo.. the other face wash
**one bring the curling iron, one bring the outlet converter , one bring the sunscreen.. etc
**if staying in hotel--it should have a hair dryer and basic toiletries
**make sure all liquids are according to TSA rules
Keep Liquids on Top
**keep liquids on top in clear ziplock baggie in your carry on--for easy access for security check
Leave Behind Unnecessary Gear
**baby gear--call hotel to check if you can rent, often cheaper than travelling with it
**one small piece of technology is enough
Master an Outfit Plan:
**assess all events and activities on your itinerary
**pre-plan the exact outfit for each activity
**especially if going to attend a special celebration
Remember to choose items you are excited to wear!
