Hey canoe trippers ? What's your off season " jam" ? Guessing your adventure spirit does not hibernate when the weather cools? Algonquin Park is great in all 4 seasons. Try a backpack trip or winter camping. Another good option is to rent a winter cabin and take off for snowshoe and backcountry ski day trips. Return for sauna or wine in front of the wood stove. Life is good !

Day trip to Algonquin to see the fall colours - with zero crowds and no need for a reservation! Yep, come to Algonquin Park access # 1, just a one-hour drive from Huntsville. Book a 2-hour paddle in a big or smaller Voyageur canoe. Hike one of the Forgotten trails - 4 trails, including Moose Mountain in the picture below, are a 5-minute drive from our access point and outfitter. Finish the day with a cold beer on the .

"Portage trip" or "Canoe trip"? Lately, we have heard more and more people refer to what we call a canoe trip as a "portage trip. "What's going on here? Anyone who follows here, please weigh in and tell us what's with "portage trip"?

"How's the water level on the Amable du Fond? " This is a common question our outfitter staff receives. The short answer is - the Amable is always OK! Under low water ( summer drought conditions ) , you might have to work harder in the grassy sections ( pictured here ), but paddling up or down the river is never a problem. This year, with all the rain, water levels are high. everybody!

How do you store your clothing and tent on your backcountry canoe trip? Many of us love the classic canoe pack, which usually holds two people's gear ( sleeping bags, Thermarest, personal clothing, and tent ). We use Barrel packs for food. What's your preference?
