The month of February in Canada marks African Heritage Month. This year, the province of Nova Scotia’s theme is Our Smiles, Our Joys, and Our Resilience as African Nova Scotians. While this heritage and history should be acknowledged continuously, Black History Month provides a foundation for individuals in communities to participate in events that honor the legacy of Black individuals in Canada.

There are many things you can do to learn, and participate in African Heritage Month such as:

Educate yourself and celebrate the achievements made by Black individuals
Attend Cultural events
Amplify Black voices
Support Black owned Businesses

Throughout the Month of February we challenge you to take the time to learn and participate in African Heritage Month events.
