Did you know, come January 2024…...

Travellers from more than 60 countries—some 1.4 billion people—who are currently able to travel through most European countries without a visa, will need to apply in advance for authorization to visit.

In addition to U.S. passport holders, a long list of other countries will now be required to obtain the ETIAS visa before visiting the EU. Among them, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore.

The long-anticipated launch of the European Union's electronic ETIAS pre-travel entry authorization system for visa-free visitors has been pushed back again until next year.

The U.S. remains the last major western country to still require proof of vaccination for border arrivals. Non-residents arriving in the U.S. by air, land or water must still show proof of vaccination. That stance now sees the U.S. isolated, not only on the continent, but in the Western world.

Now that Canada has dropped all travel restrictions, Open Jaw's editor Lynn Elmhirst explains, the U.S. is nearly alone in North America and the western world in retaining vaccine rules at the border.

Starting today, both Air Canada and WestJet are reinstating their standard airfare rules. This means that tickets issued or reissued on or after July 6, 2022 will be subject to:

- Change Fees (which will vary based on the fare type purchased)
- Cancellations will either become credits or refunds depending on the type of ticket booked, excluding Basic Fares
- Basic fares will not qualify for changes, credits or refunds

As announced by the Government of Canada, effective June 20, 2022, the government suspended the mandatory vaccination requirement for domestic and outbound international travel.

Beginning on Monday, June 20, 2022, vaccination will no longer be a requirement to board a plane or train in Canada. However, please note that
unvaccinated travellers will still be required to provide a valid pre-entry test result, undergo Day 1 and Day 8 molecular testing, and quarantine for 14 days following their return to Canada. In addition,
foreign nationals travelling to Canada are still required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at this time.

All travellers, regardless of their vaccination status, will also continue to be required to wear masks on planes and trains, and are required to submit their mandatory information in ArriveCAN within 72 hours of their arrival in Canada.

The vaccination mandate will remain in place for all cruise ship travellers and crew members.

In addition, as of June 20, 2022, federally regulated employers will no longer be required to have mandatory vaccination policies in place for employees.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the government. In addition, all measures announced by the government may be re-evaluated as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. For more
